Mea Culpa (5e Equipment)
Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement by a paladin of evil or good nature.)
Mea Culpa, also known as “The Guilty Blade”, Mea Culpa is a longsword with a +3 bonus to attack, damage rolls and an additional 3d6 necrotic or radiant damage (depends witch charge is dominant). This sword was born of suffering and now for as long as its existence has been present, it feeds on suffering. It's said that the paladin whom wields this Longsword is destined to take the guilt of the entire world onto their shoulders. It’s hilt is covered in thorns representing the suffering its user will go through.

To Do, Tis Not To Do When role-playing the user may do or refrain from a guilty act, guilty acts may expand to unjustified murder, theft, arson, etc, when the owner does acts that are guilty may cause suffering to the recipient or the like, like burning a shop, this makes the shop-owner suffer mentally. When such act is committed the sword gains one suffering charge up to 50. Non-guilty acts may expand to charity, helping a folk in need, slaying unholy creatures (ex:demons), etc. These acts ease a creatures life and makes them not suffer.A paladin can expend a said amount of charges to do a certain ability. If a paladin meaningly commits a act labeled as a non-guilty act then, the sword gains one sufferless charge up to 50. Only one type of charge can be active at a time, if three suffering charges and one sufferless charge counteract, one type of charge is deducted (doesn't matter which) making 2 suffering charges and 0 sufferless charges. This page will state a type of charge can be used by the ability.
Rejuvenating Pain (5 Suffering Charges) Feeding into the pain dealt by a damage type, this weapon is vile in its gruesome ways. As a reaction that is the result of a creature being damaged by you in a 30 ft range, you can replace half the amount of damage taken and be healed by it. This ability does not heal the owner if the damage is radiant.
Blessed Healing (5 Suffer less Charges) As an action, you can bestow radiant healing magic upon yourself or a creature within a 5 ft range, when selecting a creature or yourself you or they regain 5d10 hit points and lose 3 conditions (of their choice) they are currently effected by. Any hit points that go above your maximum amount of hit points, those hit points turn into temporary hit points. You cannot have any other source of temporary hit points until you choose a different source, the hit points are fully depleted or, the duration ends.
Disrupting the Balance (10 Suffering Charges) As an action, you make your sword disappear, creating a huge mind numbing bubble in a 180 ft radius for one minute and a spectral Longsword summons in its stead that deals psychic damage rather than base damage, any hostile creature in the range must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw, on a success, the creature takes 4d10 psychic damage and start to float, while failed creatures are in this range you can always use the telekinesis spell on the creature as a bonus action, in Addition, any creature in this range has their movement speed halved and disadvantage in Dexterity saving throw and checks. On a fail, the creature is not affected to the range until 5 more turns have passed.
The Guardian Angel (10 Sufferless Charges) As an action you can bestow radiant protection among 5 companions of your choosing in a 60 ft radius for one minute, when a creature is select they gain a +2 in AC, immunity to frightened and charm conditions, immunity to radiant and one immunity to either bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing.
Avatar of Damnation (15 Suffering Charges) As an action you become embodied in damnation, your overall outline of your appearance is dark green with red threads circling you body, one of your eyes start to darken, like one of a demon, the other fall out of its socket being held on by your sclera that emits a strange burst of magic, your body begins to slender, your back becomes hunched, the hand become corroded showing your bones that starts to shape like claws, wings sprout from your back that appear to be menacing and made of bone, horns start to grow that glows red, and your skin becomes tough and hardened. for one minute you gain the following benefits:
- When being hit by a melee attack 5 ft away from you, the attacker must make a DC 15 constitution saving throw or take 2d8 force damage.
- The eye that lays in your socket gains similar benefits to the devil's sight warlock class feature.
- As a bonus action you use the eye that dangles from your socket to frighten one creature or emit a burst of darkness, choosing the darkness one grants similar abilities to the darkness spell. Choosing the frighten option makes one creature with in a 30 ft radius frightened, that select creature must make a DC 19 constitution saving throw or become frightened for one minute, the frightened creature can reroll the save at the end of each of its turns. Whatever feature you used from the eye socket that dangles you must only use that feature until your next use of "Avatar of Damnation".
- You gain a flying speed of 60 ft.
- As an action you make your horns intensely glow, any creature besides teammates must make a DC 20 constitution saving throw or become blinded for one minute, a blinded creature can reroll the save at the end of each of its turns, in addition each creature that failed the save takes 5d10 psychic damage.
- You gain a +3 in your AC.

Destroying the Mea Culpa. Mea Culpa can only be destroyed if the sword has found true peace or chaos, if any type of charge reaches its maximum capacity (50). The sword crumbles into a liquidated water, with similar effects of holy water if the charges reached a maximum in sufferless charges and unholy water if the charges reached a maximum in suffering charges.
