Weapon (spear), artifact (Can only be attuned by a creature who has used the spear and has been victorious with it in at least three combat encounters.)

At first glance, Longinus appears as a normal, well-worn spear. Its days of glory have long since passed, and as such, it shows its years through its almost mediocre appearance as a weapon. However, those seasoned in combat who wield the spear can immediately feel how much further this is from the truth. Scholars or Clerics who inspect the spear may also find themselves taken aback at a mere glance at what truly lies within. However, despite your path in life, all are left to bask and ponder the same question: "Who can bring out this weapon's true potential?"

Dormant

Unassuming Appearance Creatures not attuned to Longinus, regardless of weapon proficiencies, will not be considered proficient when wielding this spear. Its unkempt state and lack of poise or balance can make even seasoned veterans regret their choice of polearm.

Attunement Once a creature is attuned to Longinus, they automatically gain proficiency with this weapon regardless of not having proficiency with spears. This spear also becomes magical and gains +1 to attack and damage rolls.

Barricade Piercing This weapon ignores any benefits provided to creatures behind cover and deals double damage to all structures and objects.

Body Piercing Unlike other spears, Longinus has a thrown range of (50/150) as a testament to its potential. Additionally, whenever this weapon is thrown at a creature and has dealt damage, it travels to its maximum thrown range in a line. If another creature is behind the original creature within its maximum throwing range, make another attack roll. If the attack hits, Longinus will continue to travel and perform this effect again. If the attack misses, then the spear stops moving and drops to the ground near that creature. This effect can be used on structures and objects.

Awakened Longinus

Awakened Longinus

Once awakened, the spear will reform itself to its former glory and reveal its true names and nature: Longinus, the Spear of Destiny, and Longinus, the Holy Lance. It is the spear that pierced the side of Christ while he was on the cross, confirming his death. This holy relic was coated in the blood of Christ, permanently dying it crimson and forever transforming it into a weapon who's sheer power makes the word overwhelming barely describe it. Once coated by the blood of the Messiah, it is also said this weapon can even rival the great Rhongomyniad.

Holy Weapon Awakened Longinus now gains a +2 to attack and damage rolls and deals additional d4s in radiant damage to any Undead, Devil, Celestial, Fiend, or Fey creature it pierces equal to the attuned creature's proficiency bonus. This weapon's damage bypasses all resistances and immunities those creatures may have and cannot be reduced in any way by these creatures.

Form Change Longinus may transform itself from its spear of Destiny form to its Holy lance form as a bonus action on the attuned wielder's turn, gaining new abilities and expanding its versatility. This form chance can only be performed once per long rest.

Longinus, the Spear of Destiny

Spell Shatter Whenever this weapon attacks a creature that benefits from any spell effect that would affect its AC, resistances, immunities, or damage mitigations, Longinus ignores these effects.

Armor Piercer Whenever Longinus deals damage to a creature wearing armor, you can roll 1d4. On a 4 the creature's AC is reduced by 1. If the creature's AC is reduced to 10 + their Dexterity or the armor's AC is reduced to 10, the armor is destroyed. If the attack was a critical hit, the armor's AC is reduced by 2 and is destroyed if the previous condition is met. If a creature is wielding a shield, you may instead target the shield, reducing its AC bonus as if it was normal armor.

Unrivaled underneath the Heavens In this form, Longinus is indestructible and ignores any effect that would destroy a weapon, such as a Rust Monster's Rust Metal trait or the Antennae action. Additionally, when attacking a creature that is not a Undead, Devil, Celestial, Fiend, or Fey, Longinus may critically strike on a 19-20.

Longinus, the Holy Lance

Holy Light of the Lance While wielding Longinus, the attuned creature will grant themselves and all allies within 30ft advantage against the frightened and charmed conditions and +2 to all saving throws. Additionally, Longinus, the Holy Lance has 5 charges. d4+1 of these charges will refill at dawn.

Light of Salvation As a bonus action, you can expend a charge, to target a creature within 60ft of you, and they recover 5d8+5 hit points. This effect also counts as a healing spell for any of the attuned creature's items, racials, or class features.

Light of Protection As a bonus action or reaction, you may expend a charge to target a creature within 60ft of you. Whenever that creature was to be hit by an attack, increase their AC by 2d4+2 for that attack. This effect lasts until the end of your next turn. Additionally, you may instead expend two charges to treat a critical hit against an allied creature as a normal hit instead as a reaction.
