Brave. The apostle has advantage on saving throws against being frightened and charmed.

Shapechanger. The apostle can use its action to polymorph into its apostle form, or back into its false form, which is humanoid. While in its apostle form, its size becomes Huge. Its statistics, other than its AC, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The apostle has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Causal Sense. The apostle knows the direction of any Sacrifices within 5 miles of it.

Brute. A melee weapon deals one extra die of its damage when the apostle hits with it (included in the attack).

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The apostle makes four fist or slam attacks.

Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Slam (Apostle Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 20 (4d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Regenerate (Apostle Form Only). The apostle regains 20 (4d6 + 6) hit points.

Frightful Presence (Apostle Form Only, Recharge 6). Each creature of the apostle's choice that is within 120 feet of the apostle and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the apostle's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.

When a person is at their absolute lowest; truly willing to sacrifice anything to achieve their goal, the behelit, a supernatural fetish destined by causality to come to them in this very moment regardless of any person's action, awakens, putting them face to face with the God Hand. Sacrificing the thing they hold dearest alongside their own soul, they are given strength surpassing any human, and a twisted will to follow their new master's only command: "do as thou wilt".

Most apostles have had their abilities for at least 100 years, granting them a level of development and mastery lesser apostles do not.

Known Apostles[edit]

Wyald
Wyald_Manga.jpg Wyald%27s_Apostle_Form.jpg
Wyald in his [humanoid] and [apostle] forms

As far as anyone in Midland can remember, Wyald has been secured in the nation's best-defended dungeon, though even this is likely by choice, taking great pleasure in brutalizing people who think themselves superior to him. At the tail end of the Hundred-Year War, he was made first in command of the Black Dog Knights, a military brigade consisting of unruly, violent convicts, after murdering anyone who challenged him for that right with his bare hands, which were few due to the sheer variety of ways he can instill terror.

Wyald deals twice as much damage to objects, has a climbing speed equal to his walking speed, and creatures do not become immune to Wyald's Frightful Presence from succeeding its saving throw.

Borkoff
Borkoff_human.png Borkoff_apostle.png
Borkoff in his [humanoid] and [apostle] forms

Borkoff's slam attack deals piercing damage, once per turn on a hit with his slam attack he may attempt to grapple the target as part of the attack, and he gains the following actions: Lance. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit (with disadvantage if the target is within 5 feet of Borkoff), reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d12 + 6) piercing damage. This attack can replace a fist attack when Borkoff uses his multiattack action.

Swallow (Apostle Form Only). Borkoff makes one slam attack against a Medium or smaller creature he is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the slam's damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside Borkoff, and it takes 33 (6d10) acid damage at the start of each of Borkoff's turns.

If the Borkoff takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, Borkoff must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of Borkoff. If Borkoff dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Rosine
Rosine_Manga.jpg Rosine.jpg
Rosine in her [humanoid] and [apostle] forms

Rosine's early life was filled with conflict, with even her very existence potentially originating in a raid on her home village during the Hundred-Years War in which many of the townfolk were assaulted by the invading Tudor forces. In order to avoid the constant fighting at home, she reveled in the fantasy of being an elf in the wilderness surrounding their home, going so far as to run away from home in search of the mythical Misty Valley, leaving all but a single possession to her friends. After days of organized search efforts, Rosine's family finally found her in a nearby gully, only for her father to begin abusing both her and her mother. Being ground between her collapsing fantasy and unjust reality, he sacrificed her parents, being reborn as the Elf Queen of the Misty Valley.

Rosine's slam attacks deal piercing damage, her size is Small and does not change when she is in her apostle form, she may replace any attacks with the Dash action when she uses her multiattack, and she gains the following actions:

Elf Queen's Might (Apostle Form Only, Recharge 5-6). Rosine uses one of the following actions:
Create Cocoon. Rosine encases a willing or incapacitated humanoid in a cocoon. The target becomes petrified. A creature touching the target may make a DC 15 Strength (Athletics) check as am action, ending this effect early on a success, and the target may make this saving throw at the end of each of their turns.
Create Pseudo-Apostle. Rosine causes any creatures petrified by Create Cocoon within 15 ft. of her to become a guardian of the Misty Valley, or an elf of the Misty Valley if they are a child.
Hypersonic Needle. Rosine takes the Dash action four times times, and she may make a slam attack as a bonus action on the same turn. Until the end of her turn, she gains a +1 bonus to her slam attack's damage rolls for every 5 feet she moves in a straight line and a -1 penalty to its attack rolls for every 15 feet she moves.
Egg of the Perfect World
Nobody.jpg Egg-Shaped_Apostle.jpg
The Egg of the Perfect World in his [humanoid] and [apostle] forms

Long ago, a young boy was born into the endless trash heap of Albion, at the base of the Tower of Conviction. By all means, the infant should have starved to death, and yet causality conspired for him to live. As the situation in Albion began to worsen, his home became a dumping site for the town's dead, eventually crushing him to death. Without a single possession or connection, he reached out to the behelit that had tumbled into his pit long ago. But the behelit requires a sacrifice of what one values most, and without even a notion of value, he sacrificed everything in existence, becoming a living behelit destined to reshape the world in the God Hand's image.

The Egg of the Perfect World can take the Dodge action as a bonus action, he has a climbing speed equal to his walking speed, and he gains the following actions:

Whip. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 20 ft., one creature. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 6) slashing damage.
Create Pseudo-Apostle (Recharge 6). Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 20 ft., one creature. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 6) slashing damage. If this reduces a humanoid creature to 0 hit points, they must attempt a DC 19 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, they are resurrected as a pseudo-apostle. On a success, they are resurrected as a greater pseudo-apostle.
