Brave. The apostle has advantage on saving throws against being frightened and charmed.

Shapechanger. The apostle can use its action to polymorph into its apostle form, or back into its false form, which is humanoid. While in its apostle form, its size becomes Large. Its statistics, other than its AC, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The apostle has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Causal Sense. The apostle knows the direction of any Sacrifices within 5 miles of it.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The apostle makes two fist or slam attacks.

Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage.

Slam (Apostle Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage.

Regenerate (Apostle Form Only). The apostle regains 12 (2d6 + 5) hit points.

Frightful Presence (Apostle Form Only, Recharge 6). Each creature of the apostle's choice that is within 120 feet of the apostle and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the apostle's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.

When a person is at their absolute lowest; truly willing to sacrifice anything to achieve their goal, the behelit, a supernatural fetish destined by causality to come to them in this very moment regardless of any person's action, awakens, putting them face to face with the God Hand. Sacrificing the thing they hold dearest alongside their own soul, they are given strength surpassing any human, and a twisted will to follow their new master's only command: "do as thou wilt".

Lesser apostles have had less than 100 years to refine their abilities.

In recent memory, the Slug Count was an honorable lord battling a years-long infestation of pagans and heresy in hopes of maintaining the purity and goodness of his people. However, when he returned home from his inquisition, he found his wife hosting a pagan orgy in his own castle. Putting every person in sight to the blade, his bloodlust was only stopped by the final survivor, the countess, who smiled triumphantly knowing he could not bring himself to slay her. Driven to suicide, he was only stopped by the God Hand, sacrificing his wife for the powers of an apostle. His crusade continued, now slaying heretics to feed his endless hunger for flesh.

However, when he confessed his love for her, she was shocked, refusing to see him ever again. Becoming an apostle in his despair, he sacrificed her, making her the first victim on his rampage through the manor, mounting her remains like a prized deer in the aftermath.

Lord of Vuana in southern Balden, Vlad the Impaler gives little heed to his bishop advisor, effectively keeping him hostage at his side. After being captured and tortured as a child during the war for independence against Midland, Vlad sacrificed his faith to the God Hand, transforming into an apostle and destroying the war camp he was being held in. Upon his lesser throne, Vlad Tepes takes immense pleasure in torturing people to death, particularly women and children, whom he advised his guard to occasionally falsely accuse of witchcraft.

Vlad Tepes can make attacks with any weapons within 60 ft. of it that aren't in the possession of a creature, and while a creature is frightened of Vlad Tepes he controls their movement on their turn.
