Long ago in the Hidden Stone Village, an Earth Style ninjutsu was created to create fully living, organic beings from nothing but clay and a distinctive mask. After numerous ethical disputes and an incident regarding multiple of these artificial beings escaping their masters and attacking civilians, the technique was sealed away. Nearly a century later, during the Fourth Tsuchikage's reign, a doctor aligned with Kara from the Stone Village unearthed the technique, convincing the Third Tsuchikage to further develop it to "save lives in any future wars". With the first successful attempt came an army of artificial lifeforms dubbed the "akuta", literally meaning trash. Within their owl-like masks are series of fuinjutsu bending their living clay into serving one they recognize as their leader, thus should the mask be destroyed, their life would vanish with it. While useful, the akuta army was not what the team desired, leaving them to only guard the testing facility amid developing their goal. |
