Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Described as a "less powerful" version of feeblemind, but seems to be way more powerful, versatile and somehow more complicated.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

Stupefy
5th-level Enchantment
Casting time: 1 Action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V,S,M (a narcotic drug)
Duration: 1 Hour

You turn to a creature of Medium size or smaller you can see within range and attempt to sap their mind’s power. Choose one among Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom. The creature must make a saving throw of the specified ability score against your spellcasting save DC. On a failure, that creature’s ability score decreases by 2d6 for the duration. The chosen ability score cannot be lowered below 1. If the creature’s Intelligence is lowered to 5, they can speak only one language they know, which is determined randomly by the GM. If a creature’s Intelligence is lowered to 2 or lower, they cannot speak or understand any languages. Casting Lesser Restoration on a creature regains an amount of that ability score equal to the the lower of the two d6’s. Greater Restoration restores them both. A creature cannot have two instances of this spell cast on them by the same spellcaster at once. Additionally, other spellcasters who cast this spell on the creature cannot target an already-depleted ability score without replacing the original caster’s rolls.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th or higher, the spell also deals 1d6 additional psychic damage per higher level. When cast at 7th level, the creature’s ability score decreases by 3d6. When cast at 9th level, the creature’s ability score decreases by 4d6.
