Vorcha[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

In many ways, the vorcha can be seen as a dark reflection of the salarians. Not only are they similar in build, but they are both the shortest-lived sapient species in their respective region, though the vorcha live considerably shorter lives, and are prized for their adaptability, though where salarians adapt technologically, the vorcha adapt physically. Across each vorcha's body are clusters of non-differentiated cells that permanently react to harm over the course of a week.

While vorcha do reproduce sexually, every vorcha has both male and female capacity, due to which, in combination with their rapid gestation and likelihood of multiple births, a vorcha population is able to grow at a rapid rate often compared to the pre-genophage krogan, or perhaps a salarian population unhindered by their breeding laws.

History[edit]

The vorcha are native to Heshtok, a small planet in the Terminus Systems whose only resource is the writhing masses of vorcha warring over it. When the Terminus Systems were first being settled by the galaxy's outcasts, the Blood Pack, a krogan-lead mercenary company, discovered Heshtok and witnessed unrestrained vorcha violence with glee. Absconding with a small population, the vorcha quickly spread across the gutters and shafts of the Terminus Systems. While some made their way to Citadel Space, their population is heavily monitored and controlled by local authorities.

Society[edit]

Simply put, the vorcha do not have a society. With a life short enough that most races wouldn't consider an elder much more than a young adult, the major aspects of a society; technology, philosophy, and culture never advanced beyond even the most basic of ideas. Instead, the facts of vorcha life on Heshtok cultivated ceaseless aggression, and their abduction into the Terminus Systems did little to change this precedent. That being said, there have been attempts, particularly by the asari, to acclimate vorcha to galactic civilization, though the process is often more akin to the domestication of an animal than the teaching of an individual.

Vorcha Names[edit]

Like their lifespans, vorcha names are brutal, short, and sexless, and typically end with a sharp consonant.

Example names: Besk, Drent, Dist, Flesk, Grank, Grote, Gryll, Jerst, Kreete, Shisk, Tirst, Tregg
