Creatures
I want to talk my DM into a "monster" called a warhamster. I use the stats for a badger and give the feature to "cast" Calm Emotions and Fear 1/day each. --209.97.85.48 17:28, 18 January 2017 (MST)
- Is the Warhamster an April Fool's monster? --Redrum 13:57, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- I don't know why this on my talk page. Marasmusine (talk) 15:56, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- Good question!!! All I can say is that I didn't come up with the warhamster and think it isn't a good idea. --Redrum 17:37, 25 January 2017 (MST)
5e psionics
I have 2 questions. Is there a 5e Caller in Darkness? Is there a Psionics index? --Redrum 13:56, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- No and no.
- I was wanting to use the Caller either as a result of a Psionic (or Magical) WMD or a necromancer's watchdog. --Redrum 14:21, 4 February 2017 (MST)
- If you're wanting me to make 5e stats for the Caller, I can do, for a small donation. Marasmusine (talk) 14:38, 4 February 2017 (MST)
- I was wanting to use the Caller either as a result of a Psionic (or Magical) WMD or a necromancer's watchdog. --Redrum 14:21, 4 February 2017 (MST)
No thanks --Redrum 18:01, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Well, this is awkward, but the second I heard that there was a psionic undead ghost-thingy, I knew I had to make some homebrew stats, found here. I know that it isn't an exact reflection of the 3.5e caller, but most of the spells of the 3.5e caller don't exist in 5e, and most would be more than a little problematic (ability score reductions are really rare now). side adventure
What is your opinion on an adventure involving Zombie Turkeys, Poisoned Cranberries, and an Iron Chef background(a Modified cook Background)? --Redrum 14:03, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- Don't do it. Marasmusine (talk) 15:56, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- Sounds like a blast. Marasmusine is just poopin' the party. :^) --Jwguy (talk) 18:56, 21 January 2017 (MST)
- Marasmusine, I'm just trying to come up with an idea for an adventure involving a harvest festival. If I didn't get a favorable opinion, I wouldn't go with the idea. --Redrum 17:43, 25 January 2017 (MST)

Locate Portal
There are two copies of what is essentially the same Spelljammer spell: Locate Portal (5e spell) and Locate Portal (5e Spell) (originally Locate Portal). My guess is that the creator created Locate Portal (without identifier) first, then made Locate Portal (lowercase s). Seeing as Locate Portal (lowercase s) is now redundant, should it be deleted? SirSprinkles (talk) 12:59, 22 January 2017 (MST)
- Yes, just redirect the page to the right one, and then delete it as a redirect. --Green Dragon (talk) 14:09, 22 January 2017 (MST)
- Done. SirSprinkles (talk) 14:14, 22 January 2017 (MST)

Demigod (5e class)
Im creating a class with the name Demigod (5e class) and i saw that you deleted a page like this earlier so i figured id let you know about this.Bannanameds (talk) 11:13, 23 January 2017 (MST)
- Thank-you for letting me know and good luck with the class, I'm sure it can't be any worse than what I deleted. Marasmusine (talk) 11:34, 23 January 2017 (MST)
- Thanks for the vote of confidence.Bannanameds (talk) 11:57, 24 January 2017 (MST)
- Also i finished the class itself and a few of the archetypes if you want to look at it Here.Bannanameds (talk) 12:01, 24 January 2017 (MST)
- Thanks for the vote of confidence.Bannanameds (talk) 11:57, 24 January 2017 (MST)
A Demigod Class? I hope it is some form of prestige class. --Redrum 17:03, 1 February 2017 (MST)
Archetypes
Is 8 too many archetypes for 1 class?Bannanameds (talk) 15:05, 24 January 2017 (MST)
- I think that's okay as long as they don't go on and on with radically different features. There's lots of cleric domains and wizard schools, but they have a soft of template to them that ties them together. Marasmusine (talk) 15:32, 24 January 2017 (MST)
- Sweet. Cause im doing archetypes for 8 of the 12 greek gods gods. They all have pretty different features. I mean the whole class depends on your godly parent so.. Bannanameds (talk) 15:42, 24 January 2017 (MST)
Stop editing my Class
Hi, the Valkrym class is played by one of my players, and I as DM cannot run my campaign properly because you keep editing the class I made. It is fine as it is. Please desist.
- Will reply on your talk page. Marasmusine (talk) 14:16, 30 January 2017 (MST)
- (Dang it, you beat me to it)
- The Homebrew portion of the wiki is not private property. Once you post something, it is effectively owned by the community, and thus it is up to the community to improve the content into a balanced, playable, and attractive state. You may discuss with editors that your content is balanced as is (And I have to agree with Marasmusine, it's not), and make adjustments accordingly. If you want to use the class as it was prior to Marasmusine's improvements, feel free to save a link to the historical version of the page. --Salasay Δ 14:24, 30 January 2017 (MST)
Well dang it. Had I known you could save a link to a previous version, I wouldn't have kept reverting the edit. User:DrENigma

There are issues with the SRD:Mu Spore that I have raised on the talk page. 220.233.94.145 15:26, 30 January 2017 (MST)

DnD Category
Hello again Marasmusine, I've been going though the DnD Category and have been creating a list of pages that are missing a primary tag (3.5e 4.5e 5e) and also pages that are empty. Recently to help save me some time I started skipping over pages that have the template names ie. (4e Race) (3.5e Class) and so one. As I would assume they would have the proper tags at the bottom. Is this alright or should I go back and check through those just in case? --Aitharious (talk) 14:48, 31 January 2017 (MST)
- You do now that you can easily sort all the pages by dpl lists, right? --Green Dragon (talk) 15:53, 31 January 2017 (MST)
- By tag do you mean title ID, or the category?
- I just made User:Marasmusine/Pages with No Edition, have at it. Marasmusine (talk) 16:27, 31 January 2017 (MST)
- What a useful page! --Kydo (talk) 19:02, 31 January 2017 (MST)
- The campaign supplements can be quickly sorted out using autowikibrowser, I'll sort those out later. Marasmusine (talk) 02:55, 1 February 2017 (MST)
- By tags I meant category, I'm assuming that if something has the (4e Race) or something similar it would also have the 4e category properly tied to it. And the same with 5e and 3.5e. So I've been skipping those and going only checking the ones that have a title ID missing a clear edition. So should I go back through to check those just in case they don't have the edition category tied to them or do you think it's fine. Aitharious (talk) 06:24, 1 February 2017 (MST)
- Well, take a look at User:Marasmusine/Pages with No Edition. There aren't any (4e X) pages without a edition category. There are a few (3.5e Z) pages that are missing categories. Marasmusine (talk) 07:17, 1 February 2017 (MST)
- Looking though that and my own list it seems I'll have to go back to the checking all the 3.5 pages at the very least, so I'll get on that again. Additionally is there a way I would be able to rollback a page to a previous edit? (Mostly wanting to undo small changes that unnamed accounts [Just showing IP address] are making to either benefit themselves or change things just because.) Aitharious (talk) 13:20, 1 February 2017 (MST)

- You can roll back edits (under the history tab), but if the intention of the wiki was for only registered users to make edits, I'm sure it'd have been set up that way. It's (generally) fine to change/revert edits others have made, but a) don't get into an edit war, b) talk on the discussion page if there's a conflict, c) don't revert edits just because the user isn't registered. Changing things "just because" isn't necessarily bad, neither is changing something to benefit themselves. If the content is generally agreed to be okay as-is and the other user just wants it to be (vastly) different, the other user should consider making a new page. If the edit makes the content worse, unbalanced, poorly worded, etc. it's (generally) okay to revert it.--GamerAim (talk) 08:19, 3 February 2017 (MST)
Multiclassing and Character Level
Hey Mara if im and 8th level character muticlassed evenly into monk and one other. Does martial arts scale off of character level or monk level? Like if a feature you get early upgrades at level 6 persay, does that scale with character level or class level? Bannanameds (talk) 08:08, 3 February 2017 (MST)
- In each case, the feature will say if it scales with character level or class level. For martial arts unarmed strike, it tells you in the unarmed strike section of the martial arts feature on page p 78 of the PHB. Marasmusine (talk) 09:00, 3 February 2017 (MST)
- Thanks Bannanameds (talk) 10:42, 3 February 2017 (MST)

5e Prestige
Is there any way to treat the Bard, Paladin, Ranger, and Wizard classes as prestige classes? --209.97.85.48 13:23, 4 February 2017 (MST)

where is the CAKE?
hi I am G.O.D. and I have just logged in on recommendation of a friend to find that my content has been deleted when I was fixing it, care to explain.
the page is cake scelinton —The preceding unsigned comment was added by G.O.D. (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- I believe that page was deleted. SirSprinkles (talk) 02:33, 6 February 2017 (MST)
- If the page was deleted, it would have had a "deletion proposal" message on it for 2 weeks, so it could hardly have been while you were fixing it.
- I will take a look. Marasmusine (talk) 02:35, 6 February 2017 (MST)
- Okay, I've taken a look at the deleted content for Cake Scelinton (5e Race), and it's complete nonsense that barely has anything to do with 5e D&D. Marasmusine (talk) 02:39, 6 February 2017 (MST)
Monsters from Volo's Guide
Hello again Mara. Seeing as a bunch of monsters are being removed from SRD due to not actually being part of the SRD document, does this mean that the wiki will not be able to list any of the official monsters that have been introduced in Volo's Guide to Monsters? Clockwerk66 (talk) 13:31, 7 February 2017 (MST)
- We can't print anything that's under copyright and not in the SRD. Marasmusine (talk) 14:10, 7 February 2017 (MST)
- Do we at LEAST have all the SRD monsters listed here now? Or are there still ones that are missing? If there's any that are still missing then I'd be more than happy to add them for you, so that our wiki is as complete as possible as far as official monsters are concerned. Clockwerk66 (talk) 14:38, 7 February 2017 (MST)
Missing creatures
Mara im confused right now. I just went on the SRD to look up a death knight for my newest campaign and that creature and quite afew others are missing. what do i do?Bannanameds (talk) 17:11, 7 February 2017 (MST)
- The death knight and those other creatures are not in the SRD, and therefore were deleted. SirSprinkles (talk) 19:39, 7 February 2017 (MST)
- To clarify, were they never in the SRD, or was the SRD updated to remove them? Was their source checked to make sure it had no OGC? (I doubt it did, since only one paid WotC 3.5e book had a single piece of OGC. Just trying to make sure all the bases are covered.)--GamerAim (talk) 19:43, 7 February 2017 (MST)--GamerAim (talk) 19:43, 7 February 2017 (MST)
Simple answer is, what you do is, you buy the Monster Manual. Marasmusine (talk) 02:12, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Proposal of Rewriting Sacrier
Hello, Mara. This is probably the first time I contact you, I suppose.
I read the Sacrier article that you proposed deletion. Now, I have a load of things to do for myself, including like three classes working on, so I am not confident in participating in full rewrite. However, I think I can at least come up with the alpha version of the draft, so that others can improve it further more.
I will be reading more on this... scarier... stuff. Seriously, this is one pain in the eye. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 02:37, 8 February 2017 (MST)
- Thank-you for contacting me. We can only hold onto non-functional classes for so long, this one's been here since October. Every single part of the class needs rewriting and rebalancing. I can rewrite it myself if you wish, for which I ask for a small paypal donation. Marasmusine (talk) 03:02, 8 February 2017 (MST)
- Thanks for your reply! I just read the entire stuff, and by the Great Wheel, this is horrendous. I've gotta do the whole rework, this would take a while. Still, I think I can at least make some first drafts by myself. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 03:23, 8 February 2017 (MST)
- You can replace the "delete" template with a "stub" template if you need the page kept. Thanks, Marasmusine (talk) 04:21, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Just finished the rework - it was a tough job, but I think I got it through. Apparently it was a reference to a class of the same name from the videogame Dofus, so I had to look up the wikia and other materials. It will be my greatest honor if you take a look at the final draft of the rework. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 20:44, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Player (5e Class)
As for the annotation in the Player Class it is a work in project I am Trying my best. This is my first time making a class on this wiki and I would like more helpful criticism than an annotation. Now I understand that you are a busy guy and don't have time to look over every detail and give advice about everything. Now about the playing as the class that you eventually become but I am trying to make a very customizable class and have it be an introduction class to D&D and I feel like some of the combinations haven't been made into classes. The Idea of the Player is someone who doesn't know much and as the journey progresses he gets smarter and more experienced. As for the mechanics like I said this is the first time I have worked on something like this and I would like to learn. Helpful Criticism is a great indicator so next time you come to the player page please put in the discussion some tips. Thank you for reading it though like I said this is the first time I've made something and I'm glad someone read it I'm sorry if I sounded rude. --Endderbudder (talk) 10:47, 8 February 2017 (MST)
- That's okay, you weren't rude.
- I'm just having real trouble understanding the concept. Maybe this question will help: What is it that this class is supposed to do that you can't do with the PHB classes? Marasmusine (talk) 09:32, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Well I guess not much but anytime I think about Classes I feel like they are restricted and while that does help by keeping things nice and in order I do think at least some people would want to have control in how the class is set up and with the 156 different combinations of Fighting styles by themselves I would say the players would have a lot of say in what goes into the character. Also I feel as though the Player class would be a great introduction into multi-classing or if they find a combination that they like the next time they play they could try and find another class like it and if not then they could try another combo. I'm not saying that this class would be better than all the other classes I'm trying to have it be an intro to the others. With all of the 5e classes the originals kind of get overlooked so I'm just trying to help. The class is a person who has no set future with the ability to grow, change and when there is no path he makes one. --Endderbudder (talk) 23:13, 8 February 2017 (MST)
Azernath
Hi Marasmusine, long time no talk. I have something that I want to share with you. It is just a few written discretion from the time one of my players wanted to play as an alchimest, and I want to see if it looks good. If you want to read it, please do answer. --Azernath (talk) 13:14, 9 February 2017 (MST)
- Well I don't know what to expect so just hit me with it. Marasmusine (talk) 13:40, 9 February 2017 (MST)
This feature describe how a character can create anything; however, the recpies are still unfinished. Also, the Magical Essense part is limited to either 5th, 6th, or 9th level spells. Take heed, I wrote this long ago.
Alchemy
Being an alchemist grant you the ability to create multiple types of alchemical concoctions that have different effects on the average body.
Creating Potions
Creating potions require you to use a specified amount of materials that are described within the formulas themselves. Finding such materials can take some time for the most difficult of formulas.
You can create a number of potion and mixtures equal to your Intelligence modifier. Creating such potions take place during a long rest; however, you can create a single potion during a short rest.
Magical Essence
Some potions and recipes require you to be a somewhat of a capable caster, and though you can’t cast spells, you do have a limit to how strong your magical essence you can imbued in a potion as depicted in the Magical Essence column of the Alchemist table. This also allow you to imbue certain magical effects that are equal to or less than your magical essence level.
Magical Potions
As an alchemist, you can imbue certain spell effects inside a potion under certain conditions. First, you must have the spell itself written in your alchemy book before you can create such potion. Second, you must have a magical essence level equal to or higher than the level of the spell you are trying to plant in your potion. Third, you must mix the spell components in a bottle if possible after turning them to consumable components. Spells that require no material components can be imbued inside a bottle of simple water. Fourth, you must succeed an Intelligence (Arcane) check equal to 10 + the spell level to grant the bottle filled with components magical properties (You automatically succeed the check when imbuing a Cantrip in a potion). Spells like (blade ward, alter self, polymorph…etc) are the most common spells to use; however, the DM is the deciding factor on what spell can be imbued in a potion, a vial, or a flask.
Limited Consumption
The average person including the alchemist can have limited number of potions and concoctions running through their blood system equal to their Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). This is due to the toxic materials that certain potion might have that could have a terrible lasting effect on the user. A person who takes an extra potion over their limit must succeed a DC 12 + the number of potions consumed Constitution saving throw each turn or take Acid damage equal to 1d10 × the number of potions consumed.
The creature continues to take damage till it either take a long rest or consumes an antidote or an antitoxin of sort.
Alchemy Book
An alchemy book is where alchemists record the formulas and recipes of their own concoctions. You must referee to your alchemy book before being able to make a certain potion.
- Is it a class feature? Is it a replacement for the Crafting A Magic Item downtime activity? Marasmusine (talk) 02:22, 10 February 2017 (MST)
- No, it is just a stright forword feature that allow you to create potions your own way. --Azernath (talk) 09:16, 10 February 2017 (MST)
- I've created a jump-off page at Alchemy (5e Variant Rule). Read what it says there, then either make a sub-heading with your ideas, or add a link to a separate page if you prefer. Marasmusine (talk) 12:48, 28 February 2017 (MST)
- The page point towards the right direction, but it lacks further description. I like the idea of any person proficient with the tools being able to create normal potions, but how is a proftional is any better than a common practitioner.
- P.S. I have made this small feature to a race. What do you think?

Uncommon Figure. Due to your strange shape and features, you require special adjustment to any armor or clothing you wear before it can function normally. This is done by spending an extra amount of gold equal the half of the desired item (maximum of 250 gp) upon purchase. This will allow you to wear that item without any disadvantages.
- If want anyone proficient with the tools to be able to create potions, then there you go, you've decided on the criteria per the DMG. You just drop the requirement that you need spell slots and the associated spell. You might elaborate on how characters learn formulas and what ingredients are needed. You might vary the gp-per-day progress. It's still the Crafting a Magic Item downtime activity. Marasmusine (talk) 08:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Free Actions
I just realised: how many times have we told users performing hasty conversions into 5e that 5e doesn't have "free actions" or "attacks of opportunity" or other bits of terminology from previous editions? Perhaps we should make a version of Kydo's guide to jargon for common mistakes. SirSprinkles (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2017 (MST)
- I covered some of it at Class Do's and Don'ts (5e Guideline)#Terminology and Mechanics from Older Editions], which is actually displayed when you create a new class, but I suppose no-one reads it. Marasmusine (talk) 02:17, 10 February 2017 (MST)
Harassment
Is this harassment of SirSprinkles? AngelicBahamut (talk) 19:12, 9 February 2017 (MST)
- No, its just mis-informed criticism. I recommend that if you read what someone posts, and you put a certain tone of voice into their post; re-read it with a different tone of voice/connotation. Is this post of mine trying to be difficult? It also has a lot of connotations. Back on topic, it is probably a heated discussion since there has been so much work into the Spelljammer ships, and for the most part someone who does this is trying to resolve a certain mechanic (which may or may not be part of Spelljammer). I would just wait and see what comes next into the setting, or give a detailed conversion formula. --Green Dragon (talk) 10:10, 10 February 2017 (MST)

Rework on The Flesh
Hello, Mara. I was skimming through the recent changes and found the page The Flesh (5e Archetype) is proposed deletion. It was a messy one, but when I see a premise so promising just wasted like that, I could not help but decide to rework on this.
I will replace the proposal for deletion templace with wip template. Please let me know if there is something I should know.
Oh, and while I am at it, I finished reworking the page Sacrier (5e Class), as proposed earlier. Just thought you should know. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 09:04, 10 February 2017 (MST)
- Thank-you for putting some time into fixing these. I will review them again at some point. Marasmusine (talk) 10:36, 10 February 2017 (MST)
Shadowfell
Ok mara im beginning to form a Forgotten Realms-esque world and am looking for some suggestions on atmosphere and creatures that would be prominent in the world. In adittion to the core classes, im also allowing the PCs to use the Shadowcaster, Shadow Knight, and Shadowsoul (5e Class) classes. The story behind the world is that 1000 years ago there was a war with the Shadowfell that ripped a permanent portal between the worlds, and slowly over the centuries the shadowfell has crept into the material plane, allowing for shadow magic and empowered necromantic magic. Somewhat like Innistrad from Magic The Gathering. Bannanameds (talk) 09:19, 12 February 2017 (MST)
- Hello, I'm sorry, nothing springs to mind. I do like the idea of exploring places where the shadowfell meets other planes, but I'm not sure how long you can sustain descriptions of dark gloomy monsters and places. Hey Mara I just finished creating the Time Lord race and as its my first, I was hoping you would go through it and comment on the talk page.Bannanameds (talk) 08:24, 15 February 2017 (MST)

- Hope you feel better. Bannanameds (talk) 13:14, 15 February 2017 (MST)
- Thanks, will know more after blood tests etc. Marasmusine (talk) 13:19, 15 February 2017 (MST)

Background
Is there a way to base a background on the inheritance of a magic item and have it be balanced? --209.97.85.48 17:33, 15 February 2017 (MST)
- A background is whatever you did before you were an adventurer. "Inherited a magic item" is a thing that happened to you, which isn't the same. The only thing I can think of is if the magic item defined who you were and then you lost the item. Marasmusine (talk) 02:09, 16 February 2017 (MST)

- I feel that the "diving" bit would give you more background information than the "mariner's armor" bit. Marasmusine (talk) 13:34, 18 February 2017 (MST)

Human Puppet
Hey Mara,
Needless to say the Human Puppet (5e_Class) was/is my first class I went about doing. You said the 1st level was very weak and after looking at it- it is. Any thoughts on how I can make this better..? P.S. -- gave up trying to insert a link to Human Puppet... Sorry... --Apollious (talk) 17:20, 17 February 2017 (MST)
- Hi Apollious, you put double square brackets around it: [[Human Puppet (5e_Class)]]
- I will have a think. Marasmusine (talk) 02:08, 18 February 2017 (MST)
Bottled Misery
Hey, Marasmusine. I recently reworked the Bottled Misery (5e Equipment) page. Is it less unbalanced now? (Also, the scrolling is getting quite unbearable; perhaps it's time for an archiving?) SirSprinkles (talk) 01:19, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- Seems to make more sense now. Is the "improvised weapon" normal for thrown bottles (oil, greek fire)? (The PHB is actually right next to me but I haven't had coffee yet) Marasmusine (talk) 01:52, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- TBH, it was pretty much copied from the 5e SRD:Acid (vial) page. SirSprinkles (talk) 01:54, 18 February 2017 (MST)
warlock patron
Is there a way to make Wild Magic (or it's source) a patron of warlocks? --Redrum 14:04, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- I believe that warlock patrons should be sentient, powerful but distant. Marasmusine (talk) 14:44, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- The source of (most of) the Wild Magic in my campaign is a sentient moon-sized artifact made of black crystal and bronze. It's origins are unknown. --Redrum 17:19, 22 February 2017 (MST)
whatever
Sorry, just tried to change some stuff that seemed off to me(based on my playing style an other sources) :-) wont change anything else :-)
Is it where i should write?
- Yep, no problem. Marasmusine (talk) 14:54, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- TBH the crab was probably okay. But I saw the goat at 10 gp, when it's already in the PHB at 1 gp. Marasmusine (talk) 14:55, 18 February 2017 (MST)
tbh i didnt even know this site was active, i have a very small amount of friends(3) who know and only one who can play this game; respect to all of the creators of this website(and game) :-) Oops editing error
I dont have all the books and manuals(except of the monster manual, i downloaded it) i kinda find everything on the net and improvise the rest. good to know that there are still functioning and changing sites like this one.
Marasmusine are you the creator of this website?
wow what is this font?
Marasmusine where can i download or read online this player's handbook? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.137.214.53 (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- Marasmusine isn't the creator of the website, that would be User:Green Dragon. SirSprinkles (talk) 15:12, 18 February 2017 (MST)
- You should buy the Player's Handbook (and probably the Dungeon Master's Guide) if you intend to create new content for this wiki. You can downloaded the basic rules at http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules for an introductory game. Marasmusine (talk) 13:27, 20 February 2017 (MST)
