Challenge rating[edit]
With the creatures you have created, how do you determine their CR? The statistics don't seem to align with guidance in the DMG, at least as far as I can tell. - Guy (talk) 10:26, 8 June 2018 (MDT)
For Greenhorn: Defensive CR: 1/2 (14ac, 10hp, nimble escape. just checked manually instead of using the calc because sometimes it does things weird. Also accounting in hp from second wind would do nothing)
Offensive CR: 3 (+4 to hit, first round attack action surge attack (7+7), second round attack, third round attack ((14+7+7)/3) 9 damage a round. Scimitar damage is 7, not 5 because of Duelling Style, nimble escape) Total CR: 2 (1/2+3)/2=1.75 round up to 2
For Novice: Defensive CR: 1 (14ac, 29hp+9 average healing from Second Wind (only got 4 class levels looking at the hit dice (4d10) so would only be 1d10+4, not +5), nimble escape, accounting in extra health from second wind as effective hp)
Offensive CR: 4 (+5 to hit, first round attack action surge attack (8+8), second round attack, third round attack ((16+8+8)/3) 11 damage a round, nimble escape) Total CR: 3 (1+4)/2=2.5 round up to 3 Also, because it is CR 3, not CR 5 (CR 5 would also make it have a +6 to hit (+3 dex and +3 prof)) the skill profs would be lower (based on relevant ability score +2 prof)
For Sargent: Defensive CR: 2 (14ac, 32hp+9 average healing from Second Wind (only got 4 class levels looking at the hit dice (4d10) so would only be 1d10+4, not +5), nimble escape, accounting in extra health from second wind as effective hp, defensive duellist is basically parry)
Offensive CR: 5 (+5 to hit, first round attack action surge attack (16+16), second round attack, third round attack ((32+16+16)/3) 21 damage a round, nimble escape. riposte doesn't change CR if I recall) Total CR: 4 (2+5)/2=3.5 round up to 4 still at +2 prof threshold
For Cavalry: Defensive CR: 2 (16ac, 29hp+9 average healing from Second Wind (got 4 class levels looking at the hit dice (4d10) so would only be 1d10+4, not +1), nimble escape, accounting in extra health from second wind as effective hp)
Offensive CR: 4 (+4 to hit, first round attack action surge attack (10+10), second round attack, third round attack ((32+16+16)/3) 21 damage a round. nimble escape) Total CR: 3 (2+4)/2=3 round up to 3 For Brutish:Defensive CR: 1 (14ac, 32hp+9 average healing from Second Wind (got 4 class levels looking at the hit dice (4d10) so would only be 1d10+4, not +1), nimble escape, accounting in extra health from second wind as effective hp) Offensive CR: 5 (+4 to hit, first round attack action surge attack (22+22), second round attack, third round attack ((44+22+22)/3) 29 damage a round, nimble escape.) Total CR: 3 (1+5)/2=3
