Painter's Tools. Common tool (artisan), 50 gp. Painter's tools include the items you need to pursue a specific trade. Proficiency with these tools lets you use them to craft or pursue freelance work during downtime. Proficiency also adds your proficiency bonus to any ability checks made for using the tools for their intended purpose, for any check made in the pursuit of the associated trade, and to Intelligence checks made to recall knowledge associated with this trade.
 These tools are used to create paintings, drawings, calligraphy, maps, and diagrams on parchment or another flat surface. Painter's tools generally include canvas, parchment, an easel, a pallette, a ruler, a drawing compass, silver or graphite styli, quills, inks, brushes, paints, and charcoal sticks.
 Proficiency with and use of these tools enables you to you sketch a scene on parchment in as little as 10 minutes. This sketch lacks polish but is enough to portray a person or landscape in enough detail to be recognizable, or be used as a draft for high-quality artwork you can craft during downtime.
