Talk:Warrior of the Soul (3.5e Prestige Class)

Notes[edit]

The class implements the Celestial template. Celestials gain Acid and Electricity resistance, but not fire resistance. I think it can gain those instead of fire resistance without giving any balance issues. I also customized this a little more to make it more PC friendly. --Dmilewski 05:22, 9 May 2007 (MDT)

We also need to consider the requirements for this class. They should better reflect the virtuous nature of this class. I do not wish to lock out non-spellcasters from this class. I see this class more as a non-spellcaster, non-monk route to virtue. --Dmilewski 05:46, 9 May 2007 (MDT)
Just a note to say to you both know D&D better and have more time than me. So feel free to change mostly everything, as long as the “Good pendant of the Blood Soldier” stays in.
Thank you for all this

See Blood Soldier for most things, as the two classes shall evolve in concert. Also consider that, since Evil is a more easy route to follow than Good, there are generally more Evil-doers than Good-doers and, consequently, Warriors of the Soul might be more powerful than their Evil counterpart.

Also consider the Deathless template for the follow-up PrC (Champion of the Soul). Warriors and Champions of the Sould shall have Exalted Feats, whereas Blood Soldiers and blood Champions shall have Vile feats —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dmilewski (talkcontribs) 10:44, 17 May 2007 (MDT). Integration With Existing Classes[edit]

We need to figure out how this class fits with clerics, paladins, good druids, good monks, and the like. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dmilewski (talkcontribs) 09:09, 9 May 2007 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

Pre-requisites[edit]

“Tower Shield Proficiency or Paladin 5 or five levels of an appropriate divine-oriented warrior class.” The way it is written, it seems like Paladin 5 or else is a alternative for Tower Shield, whilst I guess it is an alternative for all these feats. Maybe a list would sho this better.

Like:

  • the following feats: Armor Proficiency (Light), Armor Proficiency (Medium), Armor Proficiency (Heavy), Improved Grapple, Improved Shield Bash, Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Unarmed Strike, Martial Weapon Proficiency (all martial weapons), Mounted Combat, Shield Proficiency, Tower Shield Proficiency
  • or Paladin 5
  • or five levels of an appropriate divine-oriented warrior class.

What do you think?

I think that we need to COMPLETELY rethink the prerequisites. Where the blood soldier was expected to go anywhere and obey any order, the Warrior of the Soul is a virtuous warrior.
  • Light/medium/heavy armor, shields
  • +5 BAB
  • All martial weapons
  • One or more Exalted feats.
--Dmilewski 12:52, 9 May 2007 (MDT)
Yes Exalted feats are a must. BTW, Blood Soldiers shall have some Vile feats, don't you think
David Latapie ( | @) — blog 13:13, 9 May 2007 (MDT)
The blood soldier already requires all feats for a fighter up until level 5. If he needs one or more vile feats, we should remove one or more non-vile feats. --Dmilewski 14:04, 9 May 2007 (MDT)
I say get rid of Two-Weapon Fighting exchange for a vile feat. —Sledged (talk) 15:54, 9 May 2007 (MDT)
I have no advice on what to remove so I may only, and humbly, remind the pre-requisites: the Blood Soldier is a jack-of-all-martial-trades. Any weapon and armour (so I would add exotic armour and especially weapons, and oversized figthing, for a handling a Fiendish axe, for instance), as well as some kind of nature tolerance, for being able of fighting everywhere, with everything. I'm not that good when it comes to the Warrior of the Soul. The BS is a Jeep, but what is the WS? Also, shall WS be more powerful than BS, which is more numerous (a classical antagonism between elite Good and swarming Evil)?
