Talk:Vaxasaurian (5e Race)
The ability score cap boost and hp gain are too much for the race. Ability score cap augments are very late game and often need very rare magic items at the very least. Enlargement takes barbarian's resistances and combines it with enlarge/shrink, which is very powerful. This alone could be the centerpiece construction of a race since it gives resistance to BPS. Even temporary, that is powerful. The other traits are sort of half-orcish, which is okay, but taking it all together makes it much too strong.--Yanied (talk) 18:57, 8 April 2024 (MDT)
I've adjusted the amplification and made the changes to the ability score limits, other than that, you didn't say anything about the other traits so the unarmed defense is fine as is? Along with the rest? Like the tail attack and the unstoppable charge. --Mr. Knight 14:34, April 2024
- I kinda skimmed a bit, yep. Dinosaur skin being double scored is worth a lot of balance points since dex and con are also primary scores everyone likes to max out. You could probably just make it a flexible 13 + dex or con instead of both.
- I think that unstoppable charge could benefit from how the centaur's charge works, which requires you to run a certain distance so it makes up for the damage.
- The tail is okay, but if that is an unarmed strike/natural weapon, I feel like you can do without the clause in prehistoric force then.--Yanied (talk) 19:43, 9 April 2024 (MDT)
okay, I put the requirement for the unstoppable charge, it will only cause damage when traveling a certain distance, and the unarmored defense has been fixed as well --Mr. Knight 14:22, 15 April 2024
- Nice, nice. I just noticed this race is actually over the Medium size threshold. It's actually pretty Large-size, being 8-10 feet. It verges into Large Player Characters (5e Variant Rule) territory, and that would only be even stronger with its innate enlarge ability. I'm a bit stumped on how to handle this for now so I'll leave the size and clean up some other things to bring it into balance. It might be necessary to make the enlargement a racial feat down the road, hm.--Yanied (talk) 19:36, 16 April 2024 (MDT)
I think it's perfect, I also made some spelling fixes here too, I hope they are the right ones, and again thanks for the help. --Mr. Knight 22:50, 16 April 2024
- Nice. Should be good to try at a table and then tweak as needed --Yanied (talk) 18:37, 18 April 2024 (MDT)
Is this a vaxasaur, vaxasaurian, vaxasauriano, vaxasauranios, vaxasaurine, vaxasaurines, or vaxasaurinos? SirSprinkles (talk) 21:12, 8 April 2024 (MDT)
The correct term is Vaxasaurian, I made a mistake putting the name and I don't know how to fix it --Mr. Knight
