Problem[edit]

The special attack section talks about a rip skin ability but that ability is not talked about on the page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 137.186.182.227 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 14 December 2006. Please sign your posts.

True. I gave this as a "message of interest" to some people that may able to help... I don't really want to create this ability, as I am not the best with monster ability creation. I hope someone else can. --Green Dragon 18:20, 14 December 2006 (MST)
I don't think this is an ability at all. At least, no more of an ability than saying, "I killed it and I'm gonna eat it." I don't think that there are rules for how long one creature takes to eat another, and don't think that those rules need to be written. This is more an identifying trait of such creatures. "This is the third murder victim this week. Just like the others, flayed alive." --Dmilewski 18:27, 14 December 2006 (MST)
The author might have meant "rend." It's an reoccurring ability in the SRD, but for some reason WotC didn't put it in the list of "common" special abilities. Here are a few SRD creatures with rend: anaxim, annis, astral construct, behemoth gorilla, dire ape, lavawight, psuedonatural troll, sea cat, troll, winderwight, and xixecal. —Sledged 18:40, 14 December 2006 (MST)
Dmilewski's comment best fits the Hunger for Skin (Ex) ability, which provides not benefit or drawback what-so-ever. —Sledged 18:46, 14 December 2006 (MST)
So, nothing has to be changed? --Green Dragon 18:56, 14 December 2006 (MST)
Nope. Flavor text doesn't always need rules. However, that doesn't mean that the entry doesn't need revision. --Dmilewski 20:03, 14 December 2006 (MST)
Rip skin (or rend) should have some rule information to qualify it. —Sledged 20:14, 14 December 2006 (MST)
The edits make it easier to understand. Thanks for making this less confusing. --Green Dragon 23:44, 14 December 2006 (MST)
