More information...

The creature before you is tall and gray, almost blending into the dark alley behind it. It is very gaunt and is hunched over. Its head is blank, save for two emotionless red glowing eyes. As it springs to attack, you notice that it has a large maw on its chest. The previously unnoticeable mouth is full of long, thin teeth.

Sulking flayers are strange aberrations that wait in dark alleys to surprise victims and attack them. They are named flayers due to their uncontrollable hunger for skin. They are said to be "sulking" due to the fact that someone from afar might mistake one for a sad human. Sulking flayers that have gone without skin for over a week often begin to nibble at their own! Sulking flayers are solitary and cannibalistic, and will not deny a meal of the skin from a fellow flayer. Sulking flayers speak common, though very badly. They also know Flayerspeak, a strange slobbering language of their own design.

Combat[edit]

A skulking flayer is usually silent in combat, but very vicious. They will try to get the skins of at least one of their intended victims when fighting a large group.

Hunger for Skin (Ex): Sulking flayers are determined when it comes to the consumption of skin. Skulking flayers will never give up until they are dead, unconscious, or have the skin of at least one of their intended victims. Further, flayers who have gone hungry for a week will eat their own skin.

Rend (Ex): If a sulking flayer hits with both claw attacks, it latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an additional 2d4+4 points of damage.
