I think this spell would be more balanced if it gave a 10 ft speed increase. A spellcaster casting this would be giving up the ability to cast any other spell of a level higher than a cantrip. --Woahluigi (talk) 15:11, 14 October 2024 (MDT)

That seems reasonable. - Guy 16:26, 14 October 2024 (MDT)
It seems odd to just leave out scaling for a cantrip at level 5. Would it be better to revert the buff and replace it with an increase to 10 feet at 5th level, or keep the buff and make this cantrip go to 15 feet at 5th level? --Woahluigi (talk) 21:16, 14 October 2024 (MDT)
In the 2014 PHB at least I believe the cantrips scale at all are damage cantrips, anyway. I don't feel scaling is necessary for this, especially since at later levels moving a couple extra squares is going to make a bigger difference than having your peanuts damage option be slightly higher.
Still, if it's going to have scaling, it makes the most sense to me to have it scale at the usual levels. So 5/10/15/20 feet at 1st/5th/11th/17th levels, yeah. - Guy 23:12, 14 October 2024 (MDT)
Yeah, the only non-damaging cantrip that scales (that I could find) is spare the dying in the 2024 PHB. Still, I agree with your conclusion that if a cantrip scales at all, it should be consistent. --Woahluigi (talk) 08:51, 15 October 2024 (MDT)
I think this cantrip shouldn't outpace Cunning Action or other features that let you Dash as a bonus action. I was already doubtful that 20 feet would be okay.
Y'know, this bonus action cantrip is supposedly competing against action-requiring damage cantrips that are borderline worthless at 17th level. - Guy 18:39, 15 October 2024 (MDT)
Yeah, you're right. I was blinded by how neat I could make the scaling. --Woahluigi (talk) 18:42, 15 October 2024 (MDT)
