What are the rules for creating additional puppets? Cost, time commitment. The feature "master strategists" states that you can control a 4th and 5th puppet and there is the Jutsu that allows you to control additional puppets, but no actual rules on creating the additional puppets.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Weeb-Senpai (talkcontribs) . Master Strategist's additional puppet control is intended to work out of the box with Human Puppeteer, which does have creation rules. If I had to throw something out for creating puppets, I'd probably use 5e's typical creation rules, or an item creation variant rule of your choice without fully , with the caveat that you have to be at least the same level as the puppet created. As for price, something like 500 + 10^(PECR x 0.24) gp, rounded up, to buy would probably work. So buying Karasu would cost 502 gp (below half a suit of plate, while crafting it using 5e's base rules would take ~20 days (25 gp per day), while something like Master Puppet could cost 6124 gp or ~245 days.--Ref3rence (talk) 22:50, 26 June 2022 (MDT)

I believe I may have caught a mistake for Expert Puppeteer. This feature is meant to be gained at 7th level, not 6th level, correct? CleverNot 18:58, 1 February 2023 (EST)

When it comes to the puppets youve created, how does the hit die thing really work? currently as written a puppet can ONLY gain hit dice and hit points when you gain a level. that would become a problem for say a 13th level shinobi whose puppet they gained at 3rd level is destroyed. when it got destroyed it had 10 hit dice plus whatever number it started with but now that same shinobi spent a however long they wanted to rebuild the puppet into something else entirely, thus creating a whole new 1/2CR puppet that possess the hit dice it started out with and nothing more as it was created by a 13th level Shinobi. currently i've been ruling it that a puppet has additional hit dice equal to the level they were gained at minus the shinobi level. so a 13th level shinobi's puppet they gained at 3rd level should have 10 hit dice in addition to whatever 1/2CR creature they are based off. is this the intention on how its supposed to be used? - CleverNot 18:01, 6 November 2023 (EST)

The way you ruled it is the exact way that is intended, the level the feature is gained at is what matters, not the level that a puppet is built. P@uL (talk) 04:07, 7 November 2023 (MST)

For the 3rd Level feature for Path of Puppet Master,

"At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in tinker's tools and either smith's tools or carpenter's tools. In addition, you make a puppet. The puppet has the statistics of a creature of CR 1/2 or below. This, along with any other puppets you create, only gains the creature's features if they are a humanoid (i.e. Pack Tactics). It has the following modifications:"

Can I make a puppet based on a martial artist (DBZ), using a generic Martial Artist statblock, and substitute any features using Ki to instead use the equivalent amount of your Chakra? Such as Ki blasts and such. This is for a Multi-anime setting, keep in mind.-killshot

From the looks of it, I don't think the numbers match up. A martial arts student is a PECR 4 creature, while Craftsman is gained at 3rd level, so RAW this wouldn't be allowed as per the design note above Craftsman. That being said, you could do a martial arts expert or even a devil when you gain Expert Puppeteer, and if your table is fine with you taking a martial arts student at 3rd level I'm sure it won't cause the most problems in the world.--Ref3rence (talk) 03:29, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

Another question do human weight puppets that aren't made at a human still get the energy like features. Like what a Martial arts students still have the ability to use ki in its features as a humanoid puppet-killshot

I think it's fair enough for them to keep their known Techniques (some puppets already have ways to spend the user's chakra), but they probably shouldn't keep their ki points since the intent of the rules is that puppets don't have their own resources until you make them with Human Puppeteer.--Ref3rence (talk) 16:20, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Another question is a humanoid puppet classified differently from a human puppet (asking since it says that humanoid puppets keep their features including things like human determination from the martial artists) (another reason for asking is cuz all puppets that are made so far are just classified as construct (puppets)-killshot p.s sorry for the questions

Also does Black Secret Technique: Machine One Shot count as grapple? -killshot

The first modification listed in each feature that gives you a puppet is "It is a construct", so it would be a construct, but it would also keep any features it had since nothing makes it lose features (i.e. its type changes but its race does not). Machine One Shot does not count as a grapple, otherwise it would say that the target is grappled.--Ref3rence (talk) 02:10, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
