Missing fluff? What more should be needed, Green Dragon?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Alchemickitten (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Animals are inherently sentient (see definition), so making an already sentient animal fully sentient just doesn't make any sense, and as such is lacking in fluff. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:50, 7 October 2018 (MDT)
Besides the name which doesn't quite make sense(and sentient being misspelled), the race could use some more description as to how a sentient race of cats came about, how a sentient cat society is different from say a standard humanoid society, and other things to flesh out the race.
On a slightly different topic, the race's traits look pretty spot on with the only issues being very minor wording hiccups and the +5 initiative, which while fitting, a bonus to initiative in general would be likely be too strong on a race as with any other kind of bonus, you are far too likely to go first in combat.--Blobby383b (talk) 14:28, 8 October 2018 (MDT)
Thanks. I know +5 is high, but I haven't found initiative to be that much of an advantage. It only determines the order after all, not effecting the dps. (My +2 ranger has a tendency to start after the -1 cleric.) It may be that we're doing something wrong, but that's my experience. Alchemickitten (talk) 02:39, 10 October 2018 (MDT)
OP probably means "sapient cat".
Classes assume you are humanoid, so I'm not sure how this race works except to ignore the features that require hands etc. Marasmusine (talk) 15:37, 8 October 2018 (MDT)
Thanks, yes, I did in fact meen Sapinent, I got them confused.
On the topic of hands, these Cats have opposable thumbs, the main feature of hands. Seeing how dexterous my little red tom (the main ispiration) is without OT, I would think they should make hands enough. Alchemickitten (talk) 02:39, 10 October 2018 (MDT)
It looks like monk is really the only class choice for a sapient cat. Other classes need to carry at least one thing to be functional, resulting in the crippling 10-foot speed. Marasmusine (talk) 09:35, 10 October 2018 (MDT)
I do not agree. The cat could simply hold the handheld item in their mouth while moving. Cats can carry implausible items in their mouths. Foci, like crystals, amulets, and tokens, could be hung from a collar or necklace. So only two item combos, like sword/shield and dual wielding, would be problematic with running. Finishing this Race[edit]

This race is a bit of joke material in my eyes since tabaxi does the concept well. The other option is to take from cultural lore and make this something like a nekomata (from 3.5e), which could give it more flavor, as well as some magical options.--Yanied (talk) 07:24, 27 August 2021 (MDT)
