Talk:Magical Blade (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
The basic idea is neat, but the scaling effect seems like way too much for a cantrip. Compared this effect to magic weapon, for example. - Guy 18:03, 21 January 2020 (MST)
I agree. I think the scaling should be removed, but then you could make the spell work similarly to Shillelagh. I would recommend:
- Removing: At Higher Levels functionality.
- Changing: The spell's components to (a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp),
- Adding: For the duration, you can use your spellcasting ability instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of melee attacks using that weapon
- Restricting: The spell to end prematurely if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon (just like Bladesong) so the damage dice of the weapon don't outpace Shillelagh's d8.
- Adding: The caveat "if it isn't already" to the weapon becoming magical, just for consistency.
With those changes, I think this could be a cool spell. --Woahluigi (talk) 22:39, 14 September 2024 (MDT)
