Talk:Half-Golem (5e Race)

From D&D Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Currently the text reads:

"Subrace. Pick one of these subraces to be what material makes up your Golem parts: Clay, Stone, Iron, Porcelain, Quartz, Ivory or Wax."

However the only subraces include Clay, Stone, Iron, Brass, Pewter and Quartz. So I've adjusted the text to include only what's there until someone wants to come along and add Porcelain, Ivory and Wax.

Hm. When I created this I only had Clay, Stone, and Iron. Someone must have added in those three without permission. EDIT: Also, the Iron Golem seems to have lost an ability since I last looked. I don't remember removing it.

Homebrew Golem Types?[edit]

I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but haven’t been so sure. There’s at least a dozen types of golems on the wiki, and potentially half versions could be added here. Here’s a quick proof of concept.

Snow[edit]

Usually designed for prolonged work in the coldest environments, half-snow golems are nothing if not hardy.

Bitter Resilience. Your body is certainly well accustomed to blizzards and such. You have resistance to cold damage.
Frosty Camoflauge. Due to mostly being made up of it, you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in snowy environments.

Thoughts? I’m looking for another project to put some time into since I’m running out of spell ideas, and adding to this race could be it. --SwankyPants (talk) 19:54, 15 June 2021 (MDT)

Not a bad idea, since I guess it's all plausible more or less.--Yanied (talk) 20:53, 15 June 2021 (MDT)
Alrighty then, seven subraces is probably good enough. Most of the other golems are either too much like the iron golem(titanium) or just too weird to make a subrace out of(grass, door). --SwankyPants (talk) 12:50, 17 June 2021 (MDT)
