Regular Deities[edit]

It would probably be a good idea to add the Player Handbook deities to the wiki instead of making your own up. 208.183.105.11 08:22, 21 November 2006 (MST)

Wow... This site is devoted to making homebrew items that can be used just like WotC items. So, this site has created homebrew Gods and Goddesses for use in a typical campaign, just like WotC material. Their is no punishment for imagination. Also, if you are looking for WotC material, please see the System Reference Document. Finally, before posting something please try to understand what it (in this case D&D Wiki) is about. Thanks. --Green Dragon 15:58, 21 November 2006 (MST)
Additionally, there are copyright issues. The gods in the PHB are NOT part of the SRD and are there as part of the flavoring the PHB has to offer over the SRD. If you're a computer geek like me a good analogy would be Mac OS X using BSD (FreeBSD) as a basis for the OS but adding "flavor" (and close/proprietary) items like the best GUI ever. Granted PHB came before SRD and there's no community group for maintaining and growing the SRD outside of WOTC... Different licensing... but generally the same idea. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xenophon (talkcontribs) 02:39, 22 November 2006 (MST). Please sign your posts.

The reason the 3.5 deities can't be represented here is the same reason they aren't in the SRD: 3.x was the first edition to set a "default" campaign setting. They chose Greyhawk, and the deities in the 3.x PHB are the deities from that specific campaign setting. It's the same reason that in the SRD you see "Magician's Magical Mansion" and "Telepathic Bond" instead of seeing the names of the wizards that created them. Those wizards are part of a licensed campaign setting that isn't subject to the OGL, since they existed before it's implementation. Steamboat28 17:56, 22 October 2009 (MDT)

Editing[edit]

I'm afraid despite frequent re-edits, I cannot add the rider (DnD Deity) after my entry Argog. Can anyone help point me along to do this? Thanks in advance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.81.42.80 (talkcontribs) 00:15, 11 March 2007 (MST). Please sign your posts.

I added that.--Dmilewski 05:17, 11 March 2007 (MDT)
Which Deity were you having problems adding? --Green Dragon 14:48, 11 March 2007 (MDT)
I think he means: He created a deity called "Argog", but wanted to renamed it to "Argog (DnD Deity)".--Dmilewski 15:12, 11 March 2007 (MDT)
Oh, now it makes sense. Thanks for clarifying that. --Green Dragon 15:18, 11 March 2007 (MDT)
Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.81.42.80 (talkcontribs) 22:47, 11 March 2007 (MST). Please sign your posts.

New Deities system[edit]

In Deities and Demigods, there are various rules system alternatives for how characters might go about attaining godhood. My favorite level of godhood is the hero deity (or Quasi-deity), like Hercules. In my previous game campaign, set in the fantasy world of Jashnia [[1]], I allowed my players to attain a level of divinity and immortality in a system that I have come to call Inath (3.5e Variant Rule).

First off, how would you classify this in game terms, and second, can it be featured here when it is semi-complete?

Thanks, all! --xido13:03, 17 September 2007 (MDT)

First off a discussion that may interest you is Godhood, how does one do it?. Also, I would actually add Inath (3.5e Variant Rule) as a variant rule instead of having it here on DnD Deities. DnD Deities is really more for gods, not for a way that characters can become gods. I feel that Inath (3.5e Variant Rule) would fit better as a variant rule. Your thoughts? --Green Dragon 17:33, 17 September 2007 (MDT)

Pantheons[edit]

Where do you add pantheons? we need a section in DnD Deities for panthions, like:

The Voodoo thingummy (DnD Pantheon).

Can we have such a section?? --Sam Kay 12:58, 27 October 2007 (MDT)

Go ahead and create a "Pantheons" subsection. —Sledged (talk) 14:11, 27 October 2007 (MDT)
Okay. --Sam Kay 06:51, 28 October 2007 (MDT)
Done. --Sam Kay 13:53, 28 October 2007 (MDT)

Rating System[edit]

Whatever happened to it? Noname 00:40, 5 April 2008 (MDT)

It never got implemented, just like the dplc idea for deities. It all got replaced with a dpl which grabs things from the actual deity template. --Green Dragon 11:40, 5 April 2008 (MDT)

4e & 3.5e Deities[edit]

Well I though editions shouldn't have any effect on deities... I was wrong I guess. 4e destroyed changed the alignment system. As a 3.5e user I think it weird to see unaligned deities, I imagine the same go for a 4e user seeing a lawful evil deity. I think it time to make 3.5e deities and 4e deities.--Lord Dhazriel 13:18, 4 March 2009 (MST)

Agree. --Green Dragon 17:03, 4 March 2009 (MST)
Motion carried. I'll set 4e deitities up shortly. --Sam Kay 13:03, 5 March 2009 (MST)
Done. --Sam Kay 13:39, 5 March 2009 (MST)

Template or "What Links Here" Inclusion in DPL[edit]

Does anyone know how to include a template in a dpl (Or maybe it could be done the same way by using "What Links Here"?) Then one could make the a "Improving, Reviewing, and Removing Articles" section and the articles within there would function as a dynamic list which pulls categories in from other areas as well. --Green Dragon 02:20, 5 August 2009 (MDT)

For example (if someone is interested in what I am talking about) try to add a dpl (on a deity organizational page) after the table which pulls the articles which need to be reviewed (using Meta Pages#Improving, Reviewing, and Removing Articles). The best way I can see to do it is to reverse add a "What Links Here" function (with link hierarchy involved) into the dpl or make it so one can do something with templates or who knows what. --Green Dragon 02:36, 5 August 2009 (MDT)
