Talk:Delayed Beam Dissolution (5e Spell)
My take on a spell that functions similarly to Delayed Blast Fireball, but changed to be a lower level so it can see more use. The strange name is a reference to this, as it follows the same convention.
This spell can do more damage that Lightning Bolt and it does deal more damage than the Spell Design Guidelines recommends; however, I believe that this is balanced out by a number of downsides.
Firstly, it takes both your action and bonus action to fire the beam. Secondly, you need to be careful about being disarmed, losing concentration, etc that would end the spell early and might even damage you.
With all these drawbacks, I actually considered making the initial damage 6d8, max of 10d8. Its tough for me to know what amount damage is balanced. --Woahluigi (talk) 06:12, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
