Delayed Beam Dissolution
3rd-level evocation
Casting time: 1 action
Range: Self (60 foot line)
Components: V, S, M (A zinc disk and a copper disk)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You draw magical energy to the palm of your hand, coalescing it into a small black bead that appears to take in light. For the duration, you can use your bonus action to end the spell and cause the bead to expand into a 60-foot-long, 5-foot-wide line that blasts from you in a direction of your choice. Each creature in this line must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking force damage equal to the total accumulated damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.

This spell's base damage is 5d8, and the damage increases by 1d8 whenever you end your turn while the spell persists (Max 10d8).

If the bead leaves your hand prematurely, the energy stored within it implodes. All creatures within 10 feet of the bead (including you) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take force damage equal to the total accumulated damage. The spell then ends.
A bead also implodes in this way if you lose concentration or are targeted by Dispel Magic.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the base and max damage of this spell both increase by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.
