Talk:Combat Shovel (3.5e Equipment)
This Weapon Make Me Giggle[edit]
This is a great idea for a weapon and is perfectly inline with other "weaponized" tools that dwarves use (axes, hammers, picks, etc...). It conjures in my mind the image of a dwarf bashing a giant in the shin with it. However, it seems a shovel would be very unwieldy as a one-handed weapon. Two-handed would seem more appropriate.
Now we just need wartongs. —Sledged 11:10, 5 January 2007 (MST)
- I really like the idea of this as well. I have a younger brother and he used to (when he was younger) like to dig a lot. He would always be digging out in the yard, and now since I have seen this weapon I have got to thinking this would be the perfect weapon for him in D&D, even though he does not dig anymore. Good job on this weapon, I like it. --Green Dragon 15:24, 5 January 2007 (MST)
- I hope he gets much enjoyment from this item. __Calidore Chase 05:43, 6 January 2007 (MST)
- What about a military fork? I think there's been a weapon named that before.--Cypresslyshra 15:32, 5 January 2007 (MST)
- I'm pretty sure there is a military fork out there. --Calidore Chase 05:43, 6 January 2007 (MST)
- Trident, anyone? MorkaisChosen 10:19, 6 October 2007 (MDT)
- I just noticed it does slashing damage. Why not "slashing or bludgeoning" damage? —Sledged 15:34, 5 January 2007 (MST)
- Ummm, because I hadn't though of that :) Check it out it has now been added. --Calidore Chase 05:43, 6 January 2007 (MST)
- Looks good, however with that change you need to change Weapon Descriptions to match that. --Green Dragon 14:47, 6 January 2007 (MST)

- Been away for awhile and just saw this pic again and it still cracks me up! --Calidore Chase (talk) 10:40, 5 December 2012 (MST)
- I think there's just 1 thing to add. Make it the "Dwarven Combat Shovel" so that dwarves can gain proficiency with it.
One-Handed, Two-Handed[edit]
Shouldn't the handing be listed as simply "One-Handed, Exotic, Melee Weapon"? It doesn't gain any special benefit from being wielded in two hands. Any one-handed weapon can be two-handed to gain 1.5 Str on damage rolls without any special rules. The complex handing just confuses people who might want to weild an off-sized combat shovel. (i.e. My halfling picks up a Medium combat shovel. Is it a two-handed weapon or is it impossible to wield?) --Zaranthan 21:10, 8 February 2007 (MST)
- Your right, one or the other needs to be chosen. I'm kinda leaning towards a two-handed weapon being better. --Green Dragon 15:06, 11 February 2007 (MST)
- Fixed --Calidore Chase 15:10, 11 February 2007 (MST)
- Looks better, thanks for doing that. --Green Dragon 23:47, 12 February 2007 (MST)
Joke Item[edit]
