Chart[edit]

This set of pages needs a chart or quick summary of each spell added for ease of use. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.207.233.122 (talkcontribs) 17:34, 29 September 2007 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

Could you mind explaining this idea better? --Green Dragon 22:03, 1 October 2007 (MDT)
Not sure what their idea was but how bout this: User:Calidore Chase/spelllists --Calidore Chase 21:13, 7 April 2008 (MDT)
Not sure what to do with areas that have no entries. --Calidore Chase 22:02, 7 April 2008 (MDT)
We could do that as well as implement something like User:Mkill/Spell list. However, should we have more information present then the PHB does? Thoughts? --Green Dragon 10:50, 8 April 2008 (MDT)
I like having both lists combined. Since this is a tool for people to use, putting a bit more information out there to ease the use of this tool is not a bad thing.--Calidore Chase 10:54, 8 April 2008 (MDT)
User:Calidore Chase/spelllistscombined check this out. --Calidore Chase 11:46, 8 April 2008 (MDT)
I changed up this landing page, all that needs to be added is a [[3e Summary::<insert the summary here>]] to each spell and this table will be filled. A good example is Arrow's Flight (DnD Spell). Anyway, what are your thoughts on it? --Green Dragon 12:23, 8 April 2008 (MDT)
Ack. Is there anyway to get the description to not show up in the spell's entry on it's page?. --Calidore Chase 14:07, 8 April 2008 (MDT)
Nope. That's the beauty and the Achilles' heel of semantic wiki's. If you really do want to use SMW to organize spells we can use Template:x0's. Let me know what you think. --Green Dragon 02:02, 9 April 2008 (MDT)
Yes. Hide it in a tag that doesn't display: <span style="display: none;">blah blah summary blah blah</span>. —Sledged (talk) 12:32, 10 April 2008 (MDT)
I'll have to check that out next chance I get. Thanks Sledged --Calidore Chase 12:57, 10 April 2008 (MDT)
Works like a charm!--Calidore Chase 19:01, 10 April 2008 (MDT)

Formatting[edit]

How would I make it so a colon is present after the link to the spell, just like in the WotC source books? I tired to change Template:3e Spell Table Row to have a colon after the replace function (like so {{#replace: {{#var: page}}| (DnD Spell)|}}]]:''' {{{2}}}), however that makes a space then a colon. Any ideas on how to make this work? --Green Dragon 11:55, 13 April 2008 (MDT)

Got it. The #replace: parser function gets rid of "(DnD Spell)" but not the space character preceeding it. Due to the way MediaWiki treats white-space in template arguments, I was able to use a template to get rid of the white-space. —Sledged (talk) 16:36, 13 April 2008 (MDT)
Thank you so much Sledged! It looks excellent. --Green Dragon 01:11, 18 April 2008 (MDT)

Can we get these fixed?[edit]

These spell lists appear to be broken; Randomly changing format of spells and their appearance, with Replace Functions breaking, and not showing Descriptions. Does anyone know how to fix it? Jwguy 09:22, 24 July 2011 (MDT)

My guess would be that people are adding spells, but not properly formatting the new pages. This page is made of DPLs, which will automatically add new spells, even if they aren't formatted correctly. The only way to get it right would be to go through every spell and make sure they are done properly. Short of that, I don't know if there is another way. Fixing the spell pages wouldn't require anything more than some knowledge of wiki-coding and hours of free time, so feel free to get on that? I'm kidding. Mostly. I can add it to the to-do list, but it's going to be a low-priority.--Badger 15:08, 24 July 2011 (MDT)
