Surtyr (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement) Surtyr is a lawful neutral longsword imbued with the power of fire and support. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. On a hit, the target takes 2d6 additional fire damage as the sword burns them. This sword has 10 charges. Additionally, once on each of your turns, you can use one of the following properties if you're holding the sword:
The sword regains 1d4+1 charges at dawn. Creation of Devastation. Surtyr counts as an elemental weapon and an elemental node for the purpose of creating devastation orbs of all types. You must expend the normal resources as usual to create one. Retrieval. As long as you are attuned to Surtyr and it is on the same plane of existence as you, you can summon Surtyr to your hand as a bonus action. Sentience. The sword has an Intelligence of 17, a Wisdom of 12, and a Charisma of 20. It has hearing and truesight out to a range of 120 feet. It communicates telepathically with its attuned wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common, Draconic, Abyssal, and Primordial. In addition, the sword can ascertain the true value of any gemstone or precious metal brought within 5 feet of it, and can detect and pinpoint the location of any gemstone, precious metal, or magical object within 120 ft of it. Personality. Surtyr admires great beauty, music, fine art, and poetry despite its firey appetite. Vain, the weapon strives to hoard it. It craves gemstones, gold, and any metal that can be reduced to molten materials of which to surround itself with, as its very heat consumes and absorbs them overtime. If its wielder's goals run counter to its own, Surtyr attempts to take control of its wielder by casting dominate monster at 9th level(DC 20 Saving Throw) as an action at the start of every turn while they are attuned to it. If successful, Surtyr will force its wielder to unattune to it and throw it deep within a Dragon's hoard. A casting of this spell by Surtyr ignores immunity to charm. When not gorging itself on metals and precious gemstones, Surtyr provides reliable advice to its wielder and will try its best to maintain a good relationship with them, and will always be supportive as long as it is appeased. |
