Spear of Akatosh (5e Equipment)
Weapon (spear), legendary (requires attunement) This weapon started as a staff of healing, after one of the first warlocks of Akatosh was defeated and left for dead. But with his last breath he called out to Akatosh for vengeance and retribution. The “Dragon God of Time” heard the outcry from his minion. Akatosh took the broken staff and a fouled short sword from the battlefield and merged the parts into one weapon that he imbued with powers and abilities. This unique weapon has been known to absorb other lesser magical items to increase its abilities to fulfill the will of "The Dragon God of Time” to protect and defend his minions. As it has been handed down from warlocks bound to will of Akatosh, it has been morphed though the eons of time. But use of this weapon comes at a price that not all are willing or capable of enduring. Claiming this item causes the individual to age twice as fast as normal. The current location of Spear of Akatosh is unknown. Protection. As the spear is an artifact of Akatosh it cannot be damaged or destroyed by normal means. The spear bestows a +2 bonus to the user's AC. Undead's Bane. The spear is considered a holy item for warlocks and when you hit a fiend or undead, that creature takes an 2d6 additional damage. Aura of Weakening. While you hold the spear it creates an a 15 foot aura of influence around you. All creatures hostile to you that start their turn in the aura have disadvantage on their first attack roll against you. You may also use the spear as a bonus action to heal any creature in the aura of influence. Each charge spent heals the creature for 1d8 hit points. The weapon has a maximum of 5 charges and regains 1d4 + 1 charges at dawn. Absorb Enchantment. The spear will at times claim and absorb lesser magical items, (i.e. rings, amulets, trinket, and daggers). If a magical item is absorbed by the spear, its magical power has a chance of adding onto the Spear of Akatosh. If a 19 or 20 is rolled, one of the item's effects is added to the Spear of Akatosh. The spear never loses any abilities or powers. Dragon Familiar. You gain a draconic familiar that uses the pseudodragon statistics, except for the following traits: Its draconic type is of your choice, and it gains a damage immunity that corresponds with its type. It has a breath weapon that deals damage of its draconic type, the area of effect is either a 10-foot cone or a 15-foot line (as appropriate to the dragon's type). All creatures within the area of the breath weapon must succeed on a Dexterity or Constitution saving throw (appropriate to the dragon's type) against your warlock spell save DC, dealing 3d6 damage appropriate to the dragon's type on a failed save, or half damage on a successful save. This damage is increased to 4d6 at 4th level, 5d6 at 8th level, 6d6 at 12th level, 6d8 at 16th level, and 7d8 at 20th level. You must complete a short or long rest before your familiar can use its breath weapon again. Any warlock that claims this weapon, will be compelled to leave or give away any and all weapons they possess. If any creature other than a warlock attempts to pick-up or use the Spear of Akatosh, they will take 6d6 physic damage at the start of every turn, and are aged five years. |
