Limited Amphibiousness. The shalarin can breathe air and water, but it needs to be submerged at least once every 4 hours to avoid suffocating.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the shalarin has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Shadowfin. While the shalarin is in dim light, it is heavily obscured instead of lightly obscured.

Sneak Attack. The default description would appear here.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The shalarin makes two attacks, only one of which can be with its heavy crossbow.

Trident. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, or 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.

Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 2) piercing damage.

BONUS ACTIONS

Ink Vial (1/day). A 20-foot-radius cloud of ink extends all around the shalarin if it is underwater. The area is heavily obscured for 1 minute, although a significant current can disperse the ink.

Shalarin seekers, also called "Tu'sha'larin", make up 10% of shalarin society, and are characterized by their black fins. Their role is to venture out of the safety of As'arem in search of knowledge unknown to its scholars and rulers. A land's secrets are of exceptional value, so all seekers are trained in concealment.
More than half of all seekers are the so-called "faiths seekers"; a former sub-caste of shalarin scholar priests from when their mother goddess Trishina could still answer their prayers. The secrets they primarily seek are those of the gods and their worshipers, with their holy grail being a way to slay or weaken their eternal enemy Dagon and reconnect with Trishina.
