Shadow Lord
3rd-level Necromancy
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V
Duration: Until dispelled

This spell, when used for the first time, forces a connection of the user to the realm of limitless shadows, binding their soul to this realm and giving them the title of "Lord of Shadows". Once the user receives this title, no spell other than wish can remove their connection to this spell. If the user of this spell dies, they lose their title and cannot be resurrected by any means lesser than true resurrection or wish. Only 4 individuals can hold the title of Lord of Shadows, and someone does not have this title but has this spell, upon use, it shows the location of the nearest "Lord of Shadows" through visions. Alternatively, if you are carrying a compass or map, it shows their current location through these.

This spell is divided into different benefits, providing the user the ability to generate their own personal army.

Shadow Extraction. When activating this spell, a Shadow Soldier is created from a lifeless body, absorbing its connection to mana. All dead creatures of your choice within a 30-foot radius will be resurrected as a Shadow Soldier, if you can pass a check with your spellcasting ability, for which you cannot benefit from advantage, against the willpower of each creature (The DC of this check is based on the creature's CR + 8 + their Charisma modifier), on a success, it becomes a Shadow Soldier. Creatures with double your CR or more cannot become Shadow Soldiers. Each time you wish to activate this effect, you must re-cast the spell using the respective spell slot. Shadow soldiers extracted in this way remain with you for only one hour and become permanent only if you save them with "Shadow Salvation". Unsaved soldiers will be sent to the void. For each two hours that pass from an individual's death, the DC to extract their shadow increases by one. Additionally, corpses that have been dead for more than 24 hours cannot become shadow soldiers. The same dead individual can only be targeted by this spell 3 times, after which they become immune to its effects. Undead, Fiend, and Constructs cannot be targeted by this spell. If you are targeted by the dispel magic spell, your saved shadows return to your shadow and can only be invoked again after you reuse this spell, while your unsaved shadows are sent to the void.

Shadow Salvation. To save, summon or recall one or more of your saved shadow soldiers to your shadow, you must use a bonus action (at no cost in your spell slots). With the same bonus action, you can both summon and recall saved shadow soldiers of your choice. However, to save a soldier you must use a separate bonus action. When summoning a saved shadow soldier, it appears in a space within 30 feet of your choice. You can have a number of saved extracted shadows equal to your Spellcasting Ability Modifier. You can have a number of active summoned shadows equal to half your Spellcasting Ability Modifier rounded down.

Shadow Dismissal. With a bonus action (without cost in your spell slots), you can send a number of saved extracted shadows of your choice to the void. Soldiers sent to the void cannot be summoned again.

Shadow Soldier. Shadow soldiers are physical shadow copies that mimic the stats, items(magical items cannot be copied), abilities, and personality of the creature from which they were created. The Shadow Soldiers are considered superior undead who are bestowed with the designation of shadows. They serve the "Lord of Shadows" in the best way possible and feel a natural admiration and respect for him. Shadow soldiers can equip other items given by the "Lord of Shadows", these items become part of the creature until they are released or until it is discarded to the void, in which case the items are thrown out of the lord's shadow. When a shadow soldier is killed, it returns to the shadow of the "Lord of Shadows" and only returns to life after the user spends a 3rd-level spell slot after a short or long rest to resurrect it (Up to 3 saved shadow soldiers can be resurrected this way at once), as a result, the creature returns with all its hit points and abilities recharged. Injured shadow soldiers can enter the shadow of the "Lord of Shadows" and rest normally within it to recover their resources. Shadow soldiers act on their own turn but directly obey the verbal command of the "Lord of Shadows", if they have an intelligence below 14 and do not receive a verbal command, they use their action to dodge, and if their intelligence score is 14 or above and they do not receive a verbal command, they act in the best possible way to protect and assist the "Lord of Shadows". Shadow soldiers cannot use legendary actions, lair actions, mythic actions, or mythic traits, but they can use legendary resistances if the original creature has them.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a 4th-level spell slot or higher, the DC for "Shadow Extraction" is reduced by 1 for each level of the slot above 3rd. Additionally, when you cast the spell to recover one or more of the deceased "Shadow Soldiers", for each slot expended above 3rd, you can recover one additional Shadow Soldier.
