Putrid Gale

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute


Designate a a 40-foot radius, 30-foot high cylinder centered on a point within range. Until the spell ends, a necrotic mist revolves around that area. Creatures other than you which begin their turn in the target area or enter it on their turn must succeed on a Constitution save or take 4d8 necrotic damage, and its maximum hit points are reduced by half the amount of necrotic damage taken. This reduction to the target's maximum hit points lasts until the target finishes a long rest. A creature's maximum hit points can't be reduced below 1 using this spell. On a successful throw, they take half as much damage and their maximum hit points aren't reduced. This spell has a reversed effect on undead, causing them to instead regain 4d6 hit points.

On each of your turns after you cast this spell, you can use your action to move the gale up to 20 feet in any direction.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, damage dealt increases by 1d8 and amount healed by 1d6 for each slot level above 4th.
