Orelia (4e Deity)
From D&D Wiki
Neutral Good
Domains: Protection, Life
Warpriest Domain: Protection
Orelia is one of the surviving deities from the Old World pantheon. She was part of the Council of Four Meditations, and governed Paradise with the other three primary members Vatar, Shabast, and Yue. She gave up most of her powers to become the World Tree which now holds the shards of Shard Ne'Vaal together, as well as prolong life from plummeting into the Void. She is a gentle and kind goddess, known to calm conflict and advocate for compromise. Her followers are encouraged to follow her example to promote unity:
- We are stronger together, like links to a fence.
- Protect life, as it is just and good.
- Foster good and it will go on for generations.
Description[edit]
Orelia's holy symbol is the crossed branches of the myrrh tree, which is also her sacred plant. The entwined branches symbolize unity, and are often used in the construction of living fences that surround her places of worship. She is commonly depicted as a fair, dark-skinned woman, though it is said she actually has nine bodies, which are all females of different shapes and sizes. Her powers lay mainly in healing as well as abjuration. Her temperament is comparable to that of Ilmater in the Forgotten Realms. However, she is slow to ever resort to violence, and it has been recorded that she has yet to ever do so in any conflict.
After the Gorge, she grieved for much of her lost comrades and life which was devoured. As the shattered land was on the verge of drifting into oblivion, she used up nearly all her power to transform into a great tree. Its roots and branches curl protectively around the remaining shards of land which compose Shard Ne'Vaal, and she thus became the World Tree. Under her shade is a barrier that just barely keeps the world in a livable condition. However, unable to break from the Void's pull, Shard Ne'Vaal remains in orbit around the hungering spheres of nothingness, with the World Tree as its axis. It is said Orelia's power is eventually waning, and the end of the world is coming as it was foretold by the cultists of Graghk.

Heralds and Allies[edit]
Considered the heart of Unity, she is joined by Shabast, Vatar and Yue of the Four Meditations. She is also known to be friendly with Milapygle, and is courteous even towards her supposed enemies in the Four Deeds.
