- For some context on the copyright status of AI art, the US Copyright Office in August 2019 refused to register an AI-generated artwork called "A Recent Entrance to Paradise", on the basis that copyright requires human input, which AI-generated art lacks. The refusal was reconsidered in March 2020 and again in February 2022, with USCO upholding its rejection both times.
