Machina (5e Deity)
Machina[edit]
Alignment. Lawful Neutral
Domains. Forge, Grave, Life, Death, Knowledge
Divine Rank. Greater Deity
Machina is a judge of the damned and a keeper of secrets, gifting those they see fit with their power. They do not toil with the matter of Good and Evil, as they believe bias towards one true side just leads to one's downfall. Tinkers and other various engineers often worship Machina, devoting themselves to a life of acceptance and logic. When a Cleric of Machina has been devout for so long, Machina will often give them a small gift, often in the form of a small clockwork pet. Churches of Machina take the form of large mortuaries, with a chiming bell tower often built into the roof of the building.
Machina views other gods as nothing more than what they are: Gods. They have no qualms against any of them, nor would they like to start now. They would rather just be left alone to do their job and tend to their Clerics than start a fight. They are also very cowardice in general when it comes to fighting, and often just try to retreat or surrender. However, there is a catch. Machina has two children: Deus and Diabolus. Should any harm come to Machina's children, expect to be judged for your crimes.
Machina is often depicted as a thin clockwork humanoid, around the size of an elf, wearing a blue cloak with golden trim and wielding a crossbow or sometimes even a gun. Their eyes are blue crystals, cut in a triangular shape. Their body is made of shimmering gold and silver, engraved with detailed patterns. Machina's avatars often take the form of large winged Warforged or small rudimentary clockwork creatures, roaming about the world in a similar way to any other normal godly avatar would do.
- Story or quest hooks
One of Machina's children have gone missing, and Machina reluctantly tasks the party with finding them and bring them back.
