Loregrimmer[edit]

Let us find solace in words that bear truth.
—Stephan Oglesmith, human Loregrimmer

Loregrimmers run the actual temples and shrines of the Church of Modroben, and are the highest-ranking clerical order within the Church.

Becoming a Loregrimmer[edit]

Loregrimmers are chosen exclusively from the ranks of the Godclaine, the Cleric class of Claine. They must have high Wisdom and Charisma.

Class Features[edit]

Like all members of the Church of Modroben, Loregrimmers are expected to be neutral in most affairs (excepting only the defense of death, time and fate). Their class features should not be used except in the manner of church business and in direct self-defense. It is very rare for Loregrimmer powers to be used against anyone other than undead creatures or necromancers. All of the following are class features of the Loregrimmer:

Spellcasting: At first level and every level thereafter, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in your previous spellcasting class. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained.

Spells: To cast a particular spell, you must have a Wisdom score of at least 10 + the spell's level. Your bonus spells are based on your Wisdom. Saves to avoid the effects of your spells have a DC of 10 + the spell's level + your Wis bonus (if any).

Cleave Soul: At first level, Loregrimmers can cast Cleave Soul at will.

Power Heal: At second level, Loregrimmers can choose to cure maximum damage as a result of any healing spells. This can be used one time per day.

At fifth level, Loregrimmers can use Power Heal three times per day.

Power Cleave: At third level, Loregrimmers can choose to inflict maximum damage as a result of the Blast Cleave or Greater Blast Cleave spells. This can be used one time per day.

At sixth level, Loregrimmers can use Power Cleave three times per day.

Advanced Protect Marker: At fourth level, Loregrimmers can cast Advanced Protect Marker one time per week.

Avenge Murder: At fourth level, Loregrimmers can cast Avenge Murder once per day.

Shape of the Vulture: At fifth level, Loregrimmers can shapechange into a vulture for one hour per day.

At seventh level, Loregrimmers can shapechange into a vulture at will.

Incorporate Ghost: At eighth level, Loregrimmers can cast Incorporate Ghost a number of times per day equal to his Wisdom modifier.

Undead-Slayer: At ninth level, Loregrimmers can cast Undead-Slayer a number of times per day equal to his Wisdom modifier.

Impact Cleave: At tenth level, Loregrimmers can touch any item and turn it into an Impact Cleave object for twenty-four hours. This subtracts ten hit points from the Loregrimmer, which can not be healed for one week.
