Wondrous item, legendary

This ornate slab is ten feet long, three feet wide, and three feet deep. It houses a concealed chamber with enough space to accommodate a single Medium or Small creature. While the sarcophagus is closed, a creature inside of it as total cover against all attacks and immunity to all damage except psychic damage.

Quickened Rest. The sarcophagus drastically accelerates the natural healing of any creature placed inside of it. If you spend at least ten minutes resting within the sarcophagus, you gain the benefit of a short rest. If you spend at least an hour resting within the sarcophagus, you gain the benefit of a long rest instead. If you spend at least six hours resting within the sarcophagus, you instead gain the benefit of a long rest, plus the following benefits:

You can gain the benefit of this property no more than once in an 8-hour period.

Resurrection. The sarcophagus can restore life to the recently deceased. If a creature that has been dead for no more than 10 minutes is placed within the sarcophagus and spends at least 10 minutes there, the creature returns to life with 1 hit point. If the dead creature spends at least an hour within the sarcophagus, it returns to life with full hit points instead. The sarcophagus cannot revive a creature that has died of old age or that is missing organs or body parts integral to its survival, such as its head. The sarcophagus cannot be used to revive the undead.

Madness. Overuse of the sarcophagus can damage the mind. If you use the sarcophagus more than once in a 7-day period, you must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw after each use beyond the first. If you were at full health when you used the sarcophagus, you make this saving throw with disadvantage. On a failed save, you are afflicted with a long-term madness that affects you as follows:

You are attached to the sarcophagus and addicted to resting within it. You become irritable and violent if you go more than 1 hour without using it, and you lash out at anyone that tries to prevent you from returning to the sarcophagus.

Each time you rest within the sarcophagus while you are afflicted with this madness, its duration resets. If you use the sarcophagus at least ten times while you are afflicted with this long-term madness, it becomes an indefinite madness instead.
