Adventure Background[edit]

A few decades ago Genlawer descended upon the land in a rain of dust, destroying and devouring all that cannot escape it's endless maw. In a last ditch attempt the greatest mages in the land imprisoned Genlawer in the depths of a dungeon, with all but one dying in the attempt. But now, that prison is fracturing, Genlawer's influence is seeping into the environment, driving the flora and fauna of the land to great hunger, and it's clear that Genlawer may soon break free, with no force in the land able to resist it. So the task falls unto a group of adventurers hired to defeat the monstrosity once and for all.

Overview[edit]

The basis of the adventure consists of traversing the landscape, now riddling with all sorts of mutated plants, animals and humanoids. and going into four separate dungeons to destroy the warding around Genlawer's prison, before finally breaking its confines and slaying it.

Hook[edit]

The last mage of the last village near where Genlawer rampaged pays you to help them to slay Genlawer, explaining the situation and accompanying them and guiding them.

Stage[edit]

<- A stage is a chapter, or an important phase of the story. In a dungeon crawl, a stage would be one floor of the dungeon. In a more episodic, story-like adventure, a stage would be a series of connected scenes. ->

Step or Location[edit]

<- This is one scene in an adventure. In dungeon crawls, each room is a scene. ->

Features[edit]

<- List everything which has actual mechanical importance, like traps, lighting, climb DCs for walls, hidden stuff, etc. ->

Inhabitants[edit]

<- If the step is also a location, list the things that live there ->

Inhabitant[edit]

<- Describe them. If they're supposed to fight, give them a stat block, link to a creature entry, or give a page reference to the MM. ->

Developments[edit]

Once two of the four dungeons are cleared, Genlawers influence spreads, the plants, animals and humanoids of the land start mutating, making traversing the land more difficult.

Treasure[edit]

<- List any treasure the players might acquire, and how they would acquire it. ->

Conclusion[edit]

when Genlawer is slain, the mage, if they are still alive, pays you the second half of their pay, the village offers you any spare supplies they have, and the party goes on their way.

Rewards[edit]

This is a transcript of everything to be awarded the players, and the conditions attached to those rewards, at the end of the adventure. Think of it as a sort of checklist to make sure everything was covered.

Experience[edit]

Gain 1 level when you clear a dungeon.

Treasure[edit]

The characters receive the following treasure, divided up amongst the party. Characters should attempt to divide treasure evenly whenever possible. Gold piece values listed for sellable gear are calculated at their selling price, not their purchase price.

Consumable magic items should be divided up however the group sees fit. If more than one character is interested in a specific consumable magic item, the DM can determine who gets it randomly should the group be unable to decide.

Permanent magic items are divided up according to a system. See the sidebar if the adventure awards permanent magic items.

[[<- Unique Magic Item ->]][edit]

<- If the magic item exists only on this page, remove the header brackets, otherwise make the title a link to the page containing the item. <- Duplicate this section as many times as needed. ->

Renown[edit]

The local village will treat you like the heroes you are. Most other place are unaware of Genlawer beyond the notion of a great all-consuming beast.
