The staff has no additional effects. 1 Gem. The staff has a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls when wielded as a quarterstaff, and you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls while holding it. 2 Gems. The bonus to attack and damage rolls, as well as to your spell attack rolls, increases to +2, and your spell save DC increases by 1 while holding the staff. The staff also has 3 charges, and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. You can expend a number of charges whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher using a spell slot, increasing the level the spell is cast at by the number of charges expended. 3 Gems. The bonus increases to +3 and your spell save DC increases by 2 instead. The staff also has 7 charges and regains 1d4+2 daily at dawn instead. In addition, once during your turn when you hit a creature while using the staff as a quarterstaff, you can expend 1 charge to deal an additional 2d6 damage of a type of your choice except for bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing. Finally, if you expend the staff's last charge, it regains 1 charge and you cannot expend charges from it again until the start of your next turn. |
