Gavotta's Blood-Shield (5e Spell)
9th-level Abjuration | |
Casting time: | 1 hour |
---|---|
Range: | Self |
Components: | V, M (A crystal of any type that is both worth 10'000 GP and carved in the shape of a 20-sided die, which the spell consumes) |
Duration: | Until dispelled |
This spell cannot be cast unless you have at least 20 direct blood relatives no more distantly related to you than a parent, full sibling, or child present.
When you cast this spell, you choose no more or less than 20 blood relatives within 30 feet of you which remain within that radius for the entire duration you cast this spell. Each blood relative is assigned the number of one face of the crystal used in the spell's casting. When the spell is complete, the crystal morphs into a 20-sided shield around your body, which remains invisible and intangible except when any harmful event, whether magical or nonmagical, would affect you. This spell cannot be dispelled by dispel magic unless it is used on all your assigned blood relatives simultaneously.
Any time a harmful event, whether an attack, magic spell, environmental condition or disaster, or even aging, would apply to you, roll a d20. If the d20 lands on a number assigned to a living blood relative, you receive no damage or other effects from that event. If a blood relative spends one minute concentrating on the number assigned to them by this spell, they can unassign the number from themselves and prevent the spell from protecting you if you roll their number in the future.
While under the effects of this spell, you cannot be used as a blood relative of another if they also cast this spell.
