Chanting vile words in a long-dead tongue, you tear a portal through dimensions to a land of forsaken souls. This portal is a 15-foot radius sphere centered on a point within range. Pale mist leaks from the dimensional rift, obscuring the area, and formless shapes drift within, seeming to grasp and drag at objects and creatures in the area. The area is considered difficult terrain, and any creature that enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must make a Strength saving throw or take 4d8 necrotic damage and be pulled to the center of the area, or as close as possible. On a success, the affected creature takes half damage and is not moved. A creature that is already in the center of this area has disadvantage on this saving throw, and on a failure becomes restrained for the duration, or until they succeed the saving throw.
The spell ends if you end your turn more than 60 feet away from the center point of the portal.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, increase the damage by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd, and increase the radius by 5 feet for every two slot levels above 3rd.
