Elden Stars
8th-level Evocation
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 90 feet
Components: V, S, M (a handful of gold dust worth at least 100 gp)
Duration: Instantaneous

This legendary incantation is the most ancient of those that derive from the Erdtree. Choose a point within range to call down a golden star. Each creature within a 15ft radius centered on that point instantly take 2d4 + 2 radiant damage and must make a Dexterity saving throw as small motes of light rain down on them. Each creature takes an additional 8d8 + 20 radiant damage on a failure or half as much on a success as the golden star crashes and explodes.

If there is only one creature in the chosen area, the instantaneous damage increases to 4d4 + 4.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the instantaneous damage increases by 1d4 + 1 and the golden star damage increases by 1d8.
