Physical Description[edit]

The elcor homeworld of Dekuuna has a surface gravity 4 times that of Earth's, where a single fall could spell certain death. As evolution can only do so much, the elcor became incredibly strong at the cost of almost any mobility. Along with this, elcor have three stomachs, a thick hide, and highly advanced sense of smell, which they use as part of communication in conjunction with pheromone secretion.

To most other races, elcor speech is heard as a deep, monotone drone from their vertical slat "lips", but to another elcor, the slight twitch of a muscle, an almost undetectable scent, and subvocalized infrasound offer more meaning than any other race could dream of. Since their subtlety can lead to misunderstandings with other species, the elcor prefix all their dialog with non-elcor with an emotive statement to clarify their tone.

While casually living for hundreds of years, elcor are far out classed in age by the asari and krogan.

History[edit]

Ancient elcor society consisted of various migratory tribes led by the eldest among them, a concept which gradually transformed into the modern elcor concept of the Elders as the various tribes began to unify. Amid their first adventures into space, the elcor made contact with the asari. With their help, the elcor discovered the closest mass relay and, within a single lifetime, had established a regular trade route to the Citadel. In the modern day, the elcor share an embassy with the volus despite the two being among the more common races to inhabit the Citadel.

Society[edit]

The elcor government is known as the Courts of Dekuuna. The elcor follow the recommendations of their Elders, who spend years poring over ancient records of jurisprudence to determine the precedent that should be followed in any given situation. The Elders record closely argued and minutely detailed instructions on what course to follow in any theoretical crisis. These are filed away in huge libraries of data discs and are consulted when needed. This makes elcor policies very predictable, provided one has done a great deal of research.

Elcor usually prefer to stay on their colonies rather than travel in space, which may be why few elcor are seen on the Citadel or on other worlds. Possibly because of their size or evolution in the open air, the elcor find the necessary confines of space travel uncomfortable, and many modern elcor indeed prefer the open sky to the former. Evolving in a high-gravity environment where a fall could be lethal has made elcor psychology deeply cautious and conservative. Their culture is built on small, tight-knit groups, and their conservative nature means the elcor government is extremely stable. Despite this, they are always welcoming to outsiders.

Elcor Names[edit]

Much like the rest of elcor language, what non-elcor interpret as a name doesn't account for half of the complexity spoken by the elcor.
