Range: | 60 feet |
Components: | V, S |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
A nonmagical pillar of earth erupts from a surface into existence at a point you choose within range. The pillar has a diameter of 5 feet, a height of up to 15 feet, AC 10, and 20 hit points. The ground where a pillar appears will attain the maximum possible size in the space available even if there isn't enough space normally. Additionally, you can target the ground under a creature if that creature is large or smaller. If the pillar is created under a creature's space, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be lifted by the pillar. A willing creature can choose to fail this saving throw.
If the pillar is prevented from reaching its full height because of a ceiling or other obstacles, a creature on a pillar takes 2d10 bludgeoning damage and is restrained between the pillar and the obstacle. The restrained creature can use its action to make a Strength or Dexterity check against your spell save DC. On a success, the creature is no longer restrained by the pillar and must either move or fall off the pillar.
When a pillar is reduced to 0 hit points, it crumbles into rubble, which creates an area of difficult terrain within a 5-foot radius. The rubble lasts until cleared. Each 5-foot section takes 1 minute to clear by hand.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can create one additional pillar for each slot level above 1st.
