Dracomaw (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Wondrous item, rare (major) This cloak comes in a small variety of colors and has a uniquely flared hood piece to cover the wearer's head. The hood can appear like the horn of a gramophone, the head of a datura flower, or even the underside of a vampire squid when open. The hood is interesting in that it reflexively can close to narrow its opening. Additionally, the material of the cloak is strangely sturdy, being supposedly made of or treated with dragon innards. This is a necessary step as the cloak's function is to withstand and augment dragon breath. This article of wear was devised by dragonborn arcanists inspired by the shape of the dracoflora. Using the shapes of nature, they fashioned this cloak that would allow them to adjust their breath weapons. The hood's adjustment can funnel a dragonborn's breath weapon into an alternate shape and it also augments its reach and damage. This item was specially designed only for dragonborn use, though it can also be used the same way by those under the dragon's breath spell. Dragon Breath Resistant. As part of a short or long rest, you can choose one of the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. The dracomaw grants you resistance to that damage type until you change this choice during your next short or long rest. Shape Breath. When you use your breath weapon, you can choose to exhale either a line or a cone per the breath weapon column of the Draconic Ancestry table. The range for your choice increases by 10 feet. Additionally, your breath weapon deals an additional 1d6 of its damage type while you wear this cloak. |
