I've found a lovewly loophole...[edit]

I have found a potential loophole... and want to confirm it before adding it on the character Optimization Boards. If a prestige class (say, thaumaturgist) says "+1 to an existing spellcasting class" does that mean that 'prestige' classes count for this? If so, I think a certain prestige class bekons to be misused...

As long as the prestige class has its own spells rather than a +1 to existing class, its spellcasting can be advanced just as a base class's. For example, a cleric/assassin can have any thaumaturge levels he takes apply to his assassin spellcasting, even though he used his cleric spellcasting to fill the prerequisites.

I was thinking along the lines of advancing a spellcasting class that is both arcane and divine. What about that?

Well that probably depends on the specific rules for that class, since being both arcane and divine is very unorthodox. What is the class and where is it found?

He's referring to the mystic theurge. The answer is "no." The mystic theurge doesn't have it's own spellcasting progression, it extends the spellcasting of two other classes. However, if you can convince your DM otherwise, go for it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

D&D isn't a game you should win at. Trying to convince your DM to let you have an "I win button" really won't be fun after 1 session. I wouldn't even try really. Optimization is fun in theory, not in practice (from my experience).

Agreed. All of my builds really are just to be cheesy. I seriously have a disgust for twinks in a non-twinkish setting. Games that are set for twinkish characters (aka Gestalt campaigns) are a-Ok'd. Frankly, if anyone actually used my builds in a serious campaign, they may want to consider getting a life.
