Physical Description[edit]

A Cursed Corpse, source, [1]

Cursed Corpses can take many different appearances. Some take the form of animals and some look more like robots. The appearance of a cursed corpse is fully dependent on the method by which its creator made it.

History[edit]

Cursed Corpses are created by other sorcerers. These sorcerers imbue a core with energy and a soul, which allows for the corpse to come to life and have the ability to freely think for themselves. Certain corpses have more than one core and more than one soul. This allows for them to swap between the cores at will.

Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]

Cursed Corpses have free will, so they can think freely. However, they do retain the habits of the soul they were modeled after.

Cursed Corpse Names[edit]

Cursed Corpses normally are named by their creator.

Cursed Corpse Traits[edit]

Sorcerers who became cursed objects, and are now in a new body
Ability Score Increase. You can increase 2 scores of your choice by 1. You cannot increase your scores above 20 in this way.
Age. You can live for a very long time as you do not age.
Alignment. Cursed corpses can be any alignment, but they generally will share one with the soul they are made from.
Size. Your size is medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30ft.
Constructed Being. You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe. You don't need to sleep. You are immune to being poisoned and poison damage. Your creature type is construct, specifically cursed corpse. Because you are not born, you cannot gain a cursed technique.
Body Modifications. You can start with 6 materials of appropriate size and of any kind. These are also all grade 4 materials. You can use these materials to acquire Modifications, in addition to the free ones you start with. You also have a number of Modifications slots equal to your proficiency bonus + half your proficiency bonus. You are not able to take multiple Hit Die Upgrade, Damage Reduction Upgrade, or Extra Attack modifications.

To add modifications beyond the ones you obtained via the 6 grade 4 materials you started with, you need to have a different creature (controlled by someone other than you) who has the Cursed Corpse Creator feat (and/or the puppet manipulation cursed technique or cursed corpse expert sorcerer path) modify you over the course of a long rest (during which they must spend within 5 feet of you for at least 1 hour). Adding modifications in this way counts as though you are an NPC cursed corpse, though ability modifications still can’t raise your ability scores above 20, and feats granted by modifications only require the person to know of the feat and how it works, rather than having to know the feat.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Subrace. There are two forms of sentient corpses. There are ones that are based on the souls of dead sorcerers called reincarnated corpses and there are ones called Abrupt-Mutation Cursed Corpses which have 3 different cores each having an animal modification on them.

Reincarnated Corpse[edit]

Cursed Technique. Because your soul once had a technique, you can gain one as a corpse.
Cling on to Life. You have died once, and your soul does not want that to happen again. Whenever you are reduced to 0 hit points, you may choose to be reduced to 1 hit point instead. You may only do this once per long rest.

Abrupt-Mutation Cursed Corpse[edit]

Multiple Cores. Your body has 3 cores that are powering it. You can pick 3 animal modifications to put in these cores, being able to swap between them with a bonus action.
Favored Creation. You're the best creation that came from your creator. You will gain proficiency in two skills.
