ACTIONS

Peck. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.

Scream (1/day). All creatures within 60 feet must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 thunder damage and is deafened for 1 minute. At the end of each of its turns, the deafened creature can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success.

Other birasts automatically pass the saving throw.

REACTIONS

Communal Scream. When another birast within 60 feet uses its action to scream, the DC of the saving throw increases by 2 for each birast that uses its reaction to use communal scream, to a maximum DC of 20.

Birasts

Birasts are creatures which scream in loud machinery, blasted audibly as they enter and exit portals. Birasts make nests. Birasts make their habitation in the upper echelons of power line E3N, where silos, belfries, and chimneys stretch out far above.

Birasts gather in groups. Birasts are predators, and set out on a dry hydraulic sluice, hunting for food. Ancient customs are burned. Hardened, yellowing bird skull directs birasts through the dry sluice, forcing inhabitants out of their natural habitats and scavenging their possessions, human or otherwise. A birast head is placed next to an ulkul on a pillow in the home. Groups of birasts gather and observe.

Birasts are bird-like with long arms, short legs, and short torsos. They are covered in long, thin feathers. They have relatively small and bulbous heads with large, soft eyes, wide mouths, and dry, pointed beaks. Their feathers have a bluish tint and resemble sharkskin in texture.

Birasts fight in groups by generating large sounds, mating calls perhaps, and approaching the target. They fight without strategy, without thought, without purpose, without sanity, without malice, without guilt, without regret, without innovation, without fluidity, without purpose, without fear, without manner, without intuition, without correspondence, without categorization, without proliferation.
