Bident of the Mechanic (5e Equipment)

Staff, legendary (major) (requires attunement by a spellcaster) At first glance, the staff looks like a solid black bident. The end of the staff looks like the head of a snake and will attempt to bite creatures that get too close and is not attuned. This staff functions as a magic trident with a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls. The staff has 50 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d4 expended charges every hour. Mechanical Spells. While holding the staff, you can use an action to expend its charges to cast a spell from it, using your spell save DC and spellcasting ability. The staff at first does not have any spells with it. You can add spells from spell scrolls or spell books around the world. To do this, you need to touch the spell scroll or the page of spell book with the spell as an action and say the command word. If the staff adds the spell successfully, the scroll or the page of the book is destroyed. The staff can store up to 20 levels worth of spells at a time. As an action you can remove a stored spell in the staff as well. When using spells which you stored in this manner, you use 1 charge for 1 spell level. You cannot store cantrip or spells higher than 6th level in this staff. Default Spells. You can also use an action to cast one of the following spells from the staff without using any charges: arcane lock, detect magic, knock, light, mage hand, or mending. These spells are fixed and cannot be removed or changed. |
