This creature has advantage on saving throws against Cursed Techniques while in water. Spirit of Nature. The Bake Kujira is naturally accompanied by 5 Bonefish and 5 Bonebirds who take their turns on the Bake Kujira’s turn. If one of these happens to die the Bake Kujira must retreat back into the ocean and for every hour it spends there it will gain one of its Bonefish or Bone Birds depending on what was lost. Siege Monster. The Bake Kujira deals twice as much damage to objects and structures. Sea Monster. The Bake Kujira has advantage on attack rolls if it's in water. Chilling Call. Upon entering initiative The Bake Kujira emits a whale call, however instead of filling you with awe it fills you with fear. Every hostile creature within 120 feet that can hear the Bake Kujira must roll a DC(21) Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature is frightened. If a creature is in water they roll this save with disadvantage. If they succeed this save while out of water, and then enter a water source, they will have to undergo this save again if the Bake Kujira uses this feature. They can reroll this saving throw at the start of their turns to end the condition early. On a success they are immune to this effect for the next 24 hours. ACTIONSMultiattack. On a failure, they are overwhelmed with a sense of starvation and dehydration as the creature can no longer concentrate on any features, loses half of its movement speed, and gains 1 level of exhaustion. The affected creatures are also considered incapacitated until the end of the curse's next turn. If they fail the save by 5 or more they become prone as they are overwhelmed with hunger and are considered stunned until the end of the curse's next turn. This effect lasts for 1 minute. Affected creatures can repeat the saving throw at the beginning of their turns to end this effect early. On a success, nothing happens. Curse of Fire(6 Cursed Energy). Every hostile creature within 30 ft. of the Bake Kujira must roll a DC(18) Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they burst into flames and take 42(7d12) fire damage and gain first degree burns. If they fail the save by 5 or more they gain second degree burns. They also continue to take 21(4d12) fire damage at the start of every one of their turns until they succeed on the constitution saving throw. On a success they take half damage and are not burning. Curse of Disease(6 Cursed Energy). Every hostile creature within 30 ft. of the Bake Kujira must roll a DC(18) Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they become ill with a supernatural disease. Stage 1: They suffer disadvantage on Constitution and Strength saving throws for the next hour. They also take 21(6d6) necrotic damage that bypasses resistances and immunities, and their maximum Hit Points is reduced by this amount. Stage 2: After 1 hour, the disease spreads as they develop necrotic boils and fever-like symptoms, they gain 1 level of exhaustion and take 14(2d12) necrotic damage that bypasses resistances and immunities at the start of their turns. Stage 3: After 24 hours the target’s internal systems fail. They gain an additional level of exhaustion, cannot recover hit points by any means unless by Improved Reversed Cursed Energy, and lose the ability to benefit from long rests until the disease is cured. For every 24 hours they are not cured they will gain one level of exhaustion. If they fail the saving throw by 5 or more they are immediately sent into stage 2 of the illness. If they succeed, they are not afflicted with the disease. This disease bypasses immunity to disease, and for every 20 hit points gained with RCT they drop down a stage in the disease. However, by Stage 3, you need Improved RCT to cure your disease. Recasting this curse will not increase the stage of said curse; they will simply take the damage and effect of Stage 1. Curse of Flooding(8 Cursed Energy). The Bake Kujira releases a large amount of water through its blowhole, flooding a circle with a radius of 120 feet with water. This area is considered difficult terrain. Additionally, creatures caught must roll a DC(18) Strength saving throw or take 56(8d12) cold damage and are knocked prone. If they fail by 5 or more they are caught by the flood and dragged underneath the water and are considered restrained and unable to breathe. The creature at the start of their turns can roll a DC(16) Strength saving throw and be immediately flushed to the surface. On a success, they take half as much damage and are flushed to the surface of the water and are not knocked prone. BONUS ACTIONSRegeneration. The curse can spend up to 9 Cursed Energy, regaining hit points equal to 5 times the amount spent. Chilling Call. The Bake Kujira uses the Chilling Call feature. Cursed Wind Step (3 Cursed Energy). The curse takes the Disengage or Dash action, and its jump distance is doubled until the end of its turn. REACTIONSRegeneration. As a Reaction to taking damage, the curse uses its Regeneration. |
Bake Kujira are animated whale skeletons which sail near the surface of the sea, rising as they did in life when they needed air to breathe. They are followed by a host of eerie birds and strange fish, and appear on rainy nights near coastal whaling villages. In olden days, when whales were still plentiful in the Sea of Japan, a whale sighting was a blessing for the residents of the poor fishing villages. A village could reap huge amounts of wealth from the meat and oil in a single whale. Such a bounty did not come without a price, however. Many fishermen claimed that the souls of these whales lived on as Bake Kujira, seeking revenge against the humans who took their lives. Those who witnessed a Bake Kujira were infected with its horrible curse, which they brought back to their villages when they returned home. The whale’s curse brought famine, plague, fires, and other kinds of disasters.
Invisible Force. The curse is entirely made out of cursed energy, meaning it is invisible. Creatures with levels in the Jujutsu Sorcerer class or who can see into the Ethereal Plane can see the curse. Although, if these creatures were in a life and death situation(less than half their maximum hit points), they gain the ability to see the curse. Hard to Kill. If the curse is reduced to 0 hit points, it can choose to drop to 1 hit point instead, even against effects or features that would normally kill it outright. This feature does not work if the damage that had reduced the curse to 0 hit points was radiant damage. The curse may use this feature once per long rest.
When a feature refers to the Bake Kujira's cursed technique, it refers to Curse of Famine, Curse of Fire, Curse of Disease, Curse of Flooding.
Strong Body, Regeneration, Human Wall, Cursed Biology. Immense Cursed Energy, Overflowing Cursed Energy. Improved Durability. This creature uses the Improved Durability rule. Not Canon. The Bake Kujira is not an official cursed spirit demonstrated in the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise, it was completely made up by the people working behind this supplement. It is intended to populate campaigns in an absence of enough official material, and as such was properly balanced for any DM to use in their Jujutsu Campaign. |
