Multiattack. The bacar makes two attacks: one with its dagger or sling, and one with its bite, dagger, or sting.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 12). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the bacar can't bite another target.

Bacar are a unique breed of Maztican giant ants created from the pluma and hishna magic of Greyst Seven Cloud to forever protect his dying city of Ixtzul, or rather the magical bindings of the star worm H'Calos that lay below its main plaza.
The main feature that sets bacar apart from other giant ants is their psionic capabilities. Their psionic resonance with one another allows intelligence to grow with group size. On a smaller scale, a creature touching a bacar's antennae can telepathically communicate with it, though this is typically only used to relay the orders of a queen.
Following the demise of H'Calos, the eternal command passed down from queen to queen by their creator was voided. Since then, bacar colonies have spread throughout Far Payit, and it has become a fairly common occurrence for Payit raiding parties to raid the winding tunnels of a bacar hive for bacar meat, eggs, chitin, and weapons.

Variant: Bacar Warrior

Bacar that consistently maintain an Intelligence of 8 or higher often develop more advanced weapons, defenses, and strategies. Bacar warriors typically arise from a bacar queen's caretakers, and their prowess incentivizes a queen to keep them in this role. The bacar warrior wields a shield, increasing its AC to 15 and gains the following action options:

Multiattack. The bacar makes two attacks: one with its maca, and one with its bite, maca, or sting.

Maca (8 Intelligence or higher). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) slashing damage or 5 (1d6 + 2) bludgeoning damage.
