Automated cameras are used within most facilities, using very basic image recognition software to differentiate between people in and out registered uniforms, alerting all nearby personnel on a positive ID.

Variants

Gun-Cam. In certain areas with highly restricted access, where the threat of a false positive is infinitely less than that of a false negative, automated cameras are converted into sentry turrets. Gun-cams gain the following action:

Turret. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 60/600 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) piercing damage 2 (1d4) times. Must be reloaded by another creature as a bonus action after 12 shots.

Laser-Cam. Laser-cams have only seen recorded use once while guarding Metal Gear TX-55, operating similarly to gun-cams, but firing superheated lasers instead of bullets. Laser-cams gain the following action:

Turret. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30/300 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) radiant damage.

Cypher. Brought into service by the U.S. army in the beginning of the 21st century, cyphers are autonomous cameras held aloft by a single small propeller. A cypher has a flying speed of 30 feet. Certain cyphers are also gun-cams or laser-cams.
