Apostle's Black Flame Ritual
7th-level Evocation
Casting time: 1 action
Range: Self (20ft radius)
Components: S, M (a piece of burnt flesh)
Duration: Instantaneous

You summon pillars of black around you. All creatures within range must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 6d10 + their CR (max. 20) fire damage or half as much on a success.

As part of casting this spell, you can also use your bonus action to charge the spell. When you do so, the damage dice become d12's and they take fire damage equal to their CR again at the start of their next turn.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d10, or 1d12 if charged, for each slot above 7th. The CR maximum of the additional damage increases to 30 if cast at 9th level.
